Good Afternoon Raider Families,

At Sonora High School, we take great pride in offering a wide range of programs and opportunities designed to help our students discover their passions and forge meaningful paths toward their future. Whether through academics, the arts, athletics, or extracurricular involvement, our students consistently rise to the occasion—demonstrating resilience, leadership, and purpose.

Last week, we celebrated six remarkable student-athletes who have committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. Their achievements are not only a result of their dedication and hard work, but also a reflection of the support systems and opportunities made available through their time at Sonora. These young leaders have embraced the full Raider experience, using sport as a vehicle to open the doors to higher education.

We are honored to have been part of their journey—to have poured into them as they gave of themselves in competition—and we look forward to watching them thrive in the next chapter of their lives.

👏 Congratulations to:

🏈 Brady Ackerman – Rocky Mountain College (Football)

⚽ Sophie Forrester – Iowa State (Soccer)

🥎 Brooke Piwowar – Arizona State (Softball)

🏃 Isaac Hampson – Biola University (Cross Country & Track)

🏊 Miyu Yager – Cal State Bakersfield (Swimming)

🥎 Bayle Hunnicutt – Eastern Kentucky (Softball)

These students exemplify the best of what it means to be a Raider. We are proud of their accomplishments and excited for the impact they will continue to make.

Once a Raider, always a Raider. 💙💛

Have a great week!

We are incredibly proud to share that the Sonora High School Drumline delivered an outstanding performance at the WGASC P/W Semi-Finals held yesterday, April 5th, at AB Miller High School—earning an impressive 2nd place finish! 🥈

This achievement is the result of countless hours of hard work, discipline, and teamwork. Our students have been dedicating themselves week after week to perfecting their performance, and their passion and precision truly stood out to the judges. Their success is a testament to the talent and tenacity of our Raider musicians—and we couldn’t be prouder.

As we celebrate this amazing milestone, we also want to encourage more students to explore the incredible opportunities within our performing arts program. Whether you're a seasoned musician or simply curious about performing arts, there's a place for you here.

Sonora Drumline will be performing in a District Showcase next week—and it’s free to attend! This is a perfect opportunity to witness their talent live and experience the energy and excitement they bring to every performance. We hope to see you there!

Let’s continue to support and celebrate our amazing students as they make Sonora proud!

We are proud to highlight the incredible work being done by our Medical Assistant students as they continue their hands-on externship experience. Over the past six weeks, these dedicated Raiders have logged more than 1,400 hours of work-based learning! They’ve been actively engaged in both front and back office operations—rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and supporting physicians in real clinical settings.

This invaluable experience is made possible through the support of our outstanding community partners, who have opened their doors to mentor and guide our students in the medical field. Their commitment helps prepare our students for future careers in healthcare while deepening their professional skills and confidence.

A special thank you to the following partners for their ongoing support:

  • Dr. Douglas Nitta

Softball:

On Senior Day, we celebrated the contributions of our Seniors and they stepped up to the plate in a big way as they took down El Dorado 1-0 behind a stellar performance in the circle from Bayle Hunnicutt and the sole run coming from a solo shot from Brooke Piwowar.

Track and Field:

Last week the Raiders hosted Sunny Hills at Fullerton Union High School. It was a beautiful day and our student-athletes competed well. Way to go!
