Dear Raider Families:

Yesterday, December 6, 2025, our Raider community came together for one of the most meaningful and beloved traditions we share, the Annual Sonora Food Drive. Each year, this event reminds us that Sonora is more than a school; it is a family rooted in compassion, unity, and service. What unfolded yesterday was a powerful reflection of who we are and what we stand for as Raiders.

The food drive is far more than a collection effort; it is a bridge that connects our campus to the surrounding community, ensuring that families experiencing hardship feel supported, seen, and cared for. In a world that can often feel divided or hurried, this tradition offers a moment of clarity and purpose, reminding us of the profound impact we can create when we work together with open hearts.

Our students were at the center of this effort, embodying generosity and leadership in ways that continue to inspire. Their willingness to donate food, lend a hand, organize contributions, and show up with enthusiasm is a testament to the strength of our student body. We extend a heartfelt thank-you to every student who gave of themselves and shared their resources to help support families in need. You are the heartbeat of Sonora, and your actions make a difference far greater than you may realize.

We also offer deep gratitude to the many staff members who dedicate their time, effort, and energy to sustaining this storied Raider tradition. From planning and coordinating to lifting, sorting, and encouraging students along the way, our staff ensures that this event remains a powerful symbol of kindness and community. Your commitment helps shine a light during a time of year when connection and the spirit of giving matter most.

As we reflect on yesterday’s success, let it serve as a reminder of the strength and unity that define Sonora. Together, we continue to uplift those around us and demonstrate what it means to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you, Raiders, for your compassion, your service, and your unwavering dedication to making the world just a little brighter.

Have a great week!

Girls Water Polo:

This weekend, our girls battled in the Troy tournament against some top talent in the area. We are proud of how our girls continue to compete and build cohesiveness in the water. Keep it up!

Boys Basketball:

Our boys are off to a blazing start this season, earning a 3rd-place finish at the Rumble on the Hill tournament and riding a five-game winning streak. The run includes a big victory over Pilibos and a milestone moment for Head Coach Mike Murphy, who secured his 700th career win at Sonora.

Adding to the excitement, senior Tyler Holmquist reached an incredible achievement of his own by scoring his 1,000th career point as a Raider to go along with Jayden Barnes' milestone of 1,000 points for his career earlier in the season.

Girls Basketball:

Our Lady Raiders are dominating early in the season, capturing the Wilson Tournament Championship with standout Sammy Gavaldon earning Tournament MVP honors and being recognized as Sonora High’s Athlete of the Week.

The team remains undefeated at 6–0, showcasing incredible focus, energy, and determination.

Girls Soccer:

Our Lady Raiders opened the season with a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Wilson, followed by an impressive 3–0 victory over Santa Fe High School. A strong start that sets the tone for an exciting season ahead!

Boys Soccer:
