Railroad Crossing Repairs: 

Please Note: The Marseilles Police Department announced several road closures scheduled this week for a railroad maintenance project that’s expected to finish by the weekend.

La Salle, Chicago, Main and Sycamore streets will all be closed at the tracks starting Wednesday, July 8th, for approximately three days.

Crossing the tracks will only be possible at Aurora Street, Pearl Street, or Milton Road. Because of the limited options, Marseilles police expect heavier traffic on Aurora and Pearl Streets and advise those traveling through to plan accordingly. Notably, this maintenance project is being handled by CSX Railroad Company in Ottawa. 

The City has no control over the scheduling or closing dates.

It is imperative for the competitiveness of this grant and to gain additional points that you attend the hearing. 

Residents that didn’t fill out a survey are also welcome to attend to learn more about the program. Representatives from NCICG will be present to answer any questions you may have.

The City of Marseilles is preparing to submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to secure funding for the asbestos abatement and demolition of the former Washington School.


As with previous grant applications, the City is seeking letters of support from residents, businesses, and organizations that would like to see the building removed. Community support is an important part of the application process.


The City is also exploring the possibility of developing a playground on a portion of the property, providing a recreational space for children on the west side of Main Street.

The following is a list of items requested by the Marseilles Food Pantry. The annual friendly church competition is going on so if you would like to assist you can drop items off at the church of your choice. 

July 12: fruit & vegetables cans or individual cups

July 19: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, dressings etc.
