It is HOT HOT HOT and the last thing I want to do is stand over an even hotter grill in the 90-degree weather.
When that summer heat kicks in, I move the grillin' to inside where the temperature is
perfect and the steaks come out great.
If you've never cooked a steak indoors before, you're in for a real treat! This is my favorite indoor grillin' recipe. The steaks come out just as juicy and tender as your local steak house.
Dave's Favorite Indoor Steak
- Pick your meat (Try Wagyu for something new. I usually go with a high quality sirloin, ribeye or filet mignon from the local butcher. Make sure it's a nice thick cut- 1 inch or bigger).
- Preheat oven to 375-degrees.
- Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel.
- Season & marinate your steak to your taste. This method works great for any flavor. I recommend a simple sea salt and cracked pepper blend. Be sure to season both sides.
- Add enough butter to a fry pan to cover the bottom & heat the pan so the steak sizzles when you put it on.
- Sear both sides of the steak (about a minute each side).
- Remove and place on wire rack that sits on top of a baking sheet (make sure the baking sheet has sides).
- Cook for 10-20 minutes depending on how you like it done.
- Use a thermometer to test for doneness.
- Let steak sit for 3-5 minutes
- Enjoy!
You can also cook the steak by putting it in the oven at 325-degrees first for 20-25 minutes. The steak will look pretty raw. Finish it on the stove in a hot buttered pan and sear. Use a thermometer to test for doneness and remember to let the steak rest for 3-5 minutes to enhance flavor.
