Welcoming The Rains
Dear friend,

The summer has passed in Plum Village, France. The yearly Rains Retreat has started in our practice centers across the world. A time to turn inward and reflect. If you would like some inspiration to have a taste of the Rains Retreat at home, you can have a look here.

In the past months, parts of the globe have seen excessive rains, storms, and flooding, while historic droughts have hit other parts. We continue to practice "Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet" to find refuge and touch our true home, Mother Earth. Wake Up Coordinator Jazz shares about his life in a reforestation community and how that brings him closer to the reality of Interbeing. Join the Wake Up Earth Holder Sangha, if you want to participate in an Earth-centered practice.

Wake Uppers worldwide continue to come together and share the practice. This summer saw the International Wake Up retreat returning to Plum Village after a pandemic hiatus of three years. Old friends reunited after many years and new friends were made. Practice was rekindled and deepened. The youthful gathering was long due and provided the perfect conditions for lots of joy and togetherness. Dozens of young people took the 5 Mindfulness Trainings. A few weeks earlier, during the Plum Village 40-year anniversary retreat, some Wake Uppers even received the 14 Mindfulness Trainings, becoming members of the Order Interbeing and dedicating their lives to building Sangha.

At long last Plum Village centers have fully opened again and Sanghas are meeting in person everywhere. We hope to see you on the path soon!

With love,

Wake Up International

Practice with Us
We thank Joy Re Cecconi for the photos in this newsletter.

Wake Up is an active global community of young adults (ages 18-35) established by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in 2008. We come together to practice mindfulness and help transform society.

We follow the Five Mindfulness Trainings, which are ethical guidelines that offer concrete practices of true love and understanding, and a path towards a life in harmony with each other and the Earth.
