Did you know it's Purposeful Parenting Month? Purposeful Parenting encourages parents to engage in thoughtful practices that foster their children's holistic development.

This month reminds parents to actively support and guide their children. Here are three simple yet powerful ways to practice purposeful parenting:

  1. Mindful Mornings: Start the day with a short mindfulness exercise together. Try blowing bubbles, practicing some yoga poses, or dropping notes into a family gratitude jar.
  2. Emotion Boards: Download our emotion chart or create your own. This will help your child express their feelings through colors, drawings, or words, enabling them to understand and manage their emotions.
  3. Digital Detox Days: Establish a few hours, a full day, or a few times per week to disconnect from technology and engage in face-to-face interactions, outdoor activities, or creative pursuits.

Disability Pride Month

Every July, we celebrate Disability Pride Month, honoring the history, achievements, experiences, and challenges of the disability community since the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990.

July is the perfect month to talk to your kids about disability, as normalizing unfamiliar topics reduces stigma. We love this resource for teaching kids about disability this month.

International Non-Binary People's Day (July 14)

honors the experiences and contributions of non-binary individuals, fostering inclusivity and acceptance.

It encourages open discussions about gender diversity within families and communities, offering parents a chance to educate themselves and their children on respecting and supporting non-binary people, promoting a world where everyone can live authentically and free from discrimination.

Black Maternal Mental Health Week, running from July 19 - 25th, highlights the mental health challenges faced by Black mothers. This observance raises awareness of the unique stressors and systemic barriers they encounter, such as disparities in healthcare, racial discrimination, and socio-economic inequities.

Participating in this initiative helps ensure that every Black mother receives the comprehensive care and support needed for her mental and emotional well-being.
