A Note from Pastor Vanicek
Who is ready to rally?

Well, I'm not necessarily thinking a hot-rod rally, but simply us gathering together in this time in the vehicles we have.

This Sunday, from 11am - 12pm, we will have our first every Rally Day Drive-thru with various stations, including Holy Communion, prayer, backpack and device blessing, and a special remembering of your baptism station. CLICK HERE for the email that went out earlier this week with details.

Rally Day is also during the time of year where we crest the hill of summer and look at the Holy Land of the Fall...from school to extra-curricular activities, to life together as church.

Next week a special email will be coming out with details on Fall plans for St. Peter's around Fellowship, Worship, Serving, Faith Formation, Youth and Families, and more.

Next week you will also be able to sign up for a in-person or Zoom session to reflect on this time of COVID. Just sharing with others how this time has been for you is a healing and holy release...a reminder that everything is not on your shoulders. Hearing the hopes of others for the future, well, that is just soup for the soul in this time. Thank you again to all who filled out the survey! I hope you enjoyed dissecting the word clouds and reading other's responses.

Below are updates from our school on preparations for this new year. Meet our teachers with a short video! There are ways to serve and give locally and globally, opportunities to be generous and remember how our life is connected to the life of others. Never read the book of Philemon? Well, this week's bible study is for you!

We rally this Sunday with the hope that we shall be able to rally in-person in more close ways soon.

Peace,
Pastor Vanicek

SPECIAL NOTES FOR THIS SUNDAY:
ST. PETER'S SCHOOL UPDATE
St. Peter’s Lutheran School will be opening its doors on August 25! We have a purpose; we have a plan; and we have prayer!

Our purpose is to get the young children of our community back into a setting where they can thrive and grow academically, socially, physically, mentally, and spiritually! We look forward to seeing their smiling and eager faces! We have almost full classes, so we know the need is great!

Our plan is expansive, thorough, and in compliance with our church guidelines, county and state mandates, CDC recommendations and rules set out by our state licensing board. We will be vigilant in prevention practices, such as hand washing, sanitizing, distancing, and face coverings for teachers.

Prayer is essential every day and in every school year, but this year more so than ever. We would like to ask you as a congregation to join us in praying daily for our teachers, our teacher’s families, our students, and their families. We would like you to pray for health and safety, but also for peace of mind.

Specifically, we would like to know that each person is being prayed over by name this school year. If you are a faithful pray-er and would like to be given a family to pray over by name, please reach out to Tracy at [email protected], or 512-799-0069. We believe in the power of prayer and want to claim that over our families!
We are also including this link to a short video introducing our staff to our students so they can see our faces without masks and with masks! You might want to watch it as well and meet these lovely teachers who are dedicated to St. Peter’s Lutheran School. We have an amazing staff! They include Tracy Knight, Christy Humphreys, Anna Womack, Ashley Crouse, Jeannie Hanshaw, Lindsay Pyle, Markelle Fry, and Carrie Rice!

Join Lutherans serving at the border during COVID

"Recently, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services has been my “go to” answer to helping and support children who face separation from parents on the border. I spoke with Beth Nelson Chase at the national office and was reassured that, indeed, they were on the scene and hopeful that they would be one of the agencies chosen to care for these children if separation did occur. I thank God for this agency and their bringing justice and mercy where I cannot.

My part in this will be a monetary response, and if this is a need which touches your heart, I invite you to also consider supporting LIRS as it brings justice and mercy in behalf of us all.  Donations can be sent to: Lutheran Immigration/Refugee Services

Stay safe and God bless." Lila Collins

BIBLE STUDY AT HOME
Faith is scripture is rarely a noun...but most often a verb...an active and alive thing. Faith is like muscles, requiring exercise to stay healthy and strong. While we are in Diaspora (separated...), use these short videos as a weekly way of growing in your faith and love.

Who is Philemon, what is koinonia, and how did Paul help two people of differing opinions reconcile. Paul describes how we should live out our Christianity in the world. He does this by demonstrating how to model the good news and how even though we are all from different backgrounds we can all be Christians.
