Dear Ramah Community,

With the start of camp only a few months away, we are moving toward another incredible kayitz (summer) at Camp Ramah in the Poconos with a renewed energy and excitement for the work we do year-round. As your new executive director, it has been a focus of mine to re-establish our leadership structure and I am thrilled to present our 2023 Interim Leadership Team.

It’s faces you know, titles you might be familiar with, but the approach is different - a new way of bringing intention to how we set up our campers, our parents, our staff, and Camp Ramah in the Poconos for success.

As Interim Camp Director,

Rachael Abrams...

remains the year-round primary contact for questions and conversations regarding your camper’s experience, and will continue to maintain her established camper care portfolio of addressing and managing MESSH (Mental, Emotional, Social and Spiritual Health) needs.

Rachael takes the lead on the implementation and management of camp policies that pertain to camper and staff behavior, supervision, and staff training. She works closely with the Marp (infirmary), operations team, and executive director to maintain a healthy and safe camp environment for our community.

As Interim Assistant Director

Tobi Afran...

oversees the hiring, year-round engagement, and experience of our summer staff. Tobi leads our year-round programmatic team to develop our vision of the camper curricular arc in order to deliver the highest level of "Ramah" experience for campers and staff.

Tobi directly supervises our summer leadership team (division heads) in their management roles, including working with Rachael to provide support, training, and feedback to counselors and specialists. She also oversees special programs camp-wide experiences throughout the summer.

Rachael and Tobi will work closely in much of their roles, and together with me will be instrumental in the planning, execution, and management of fun and meaningful camp experiences filled with the same ruach Ramah has been known for providing for nearly 75 summers.

With this team in place, my commitment to setting a successful strategic direction, and leading the growth of this evolving organization, has never been stronger. I look forward to providing leadership, oversight, and support to our entire senior team, ensuring Ramah Poconos and Ramah Day Camp remain true to our mission of "Creating Lifelong Jewish Connections One Happy Camper at a Time."
