Shalom Dear Ramahniks,
While there are no words to make sense of what is happening in Israel, we wanted to reach out and acknowledge how much the stories and images may be weighing on you as you try to navigate your day-to-day lives. As Ramahniks, we have a deep connection to Israel and its people, and we likely each know someone affected by these events.
We wanted to send along a few ways to find comfort in the coming days:
-
Connect with our team: We want to extend an offer to speak with any of our year-round team should you need a listening ear or a comforting, familiar face. Schedule a time to talk with one of us from the year-round team here.
-
Gather on Zoom with our Ramah California family: Sometimes, there’s nothing as comforting as community. Our Ramah Ojai mishpacha (family) will be hosting a Zoom on Thursday, October 12, at 9-9:30 pm PT / 7-7:30 am Israel time on Friday morning to offer words of prayer, hope, and solidarity for the people of Israel. We will hear from members of our mishlachat and camp family in Israel, as well as members of our leadership team. Please register here. This Zoom will be recorded for those who are unable to attend.
-
Gather on Zoom with Ramahniks from across the world: The National Ramah Commission will be hosting a Zoom on Sunday, October 15, at 9 am PT / 7 pm Israel Time for an opportunity for Ramahniks across the world and across the decades to be together in song and solidarity. Please register here.
-
Connect on Campus: For those of you on college campuses, we also want to remind you of the Jewish resources you have as college students. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your on-campus Hillel, Chabad, Meor, or Israel organizations. They are all there for you and would be more than happy to set up a time to speak and support you. We are more than happy to help connect you with the right people.
-
Find a spiritual connection through a fast day: As Jews, we have a traditional practice for moments like this one: ta’anit tzibbur - a fast that draws in the entire community for deliverance for those in crisis. The Hadar Institute, in partnership with many Rabbis, has declared tomorrow a fast day from tomorrow from dawn to dusk. Learn more about the fast here.
Sending lots of love to each of you and support during this hard time.
B’Ahava,
The Camp Ramah Team
