May 2026

As May brings warmer weather and the start of summer activities, it’s a great time to focus on the role water plays in our daily lives, whether at home, at work, or enjoying time outdoors. This month also allows us to pause and reflect as we observe Memorial Day, honoring those who have served our country and sacrificed for our freedoms.

As we gather with family and friends, our team remains committed to providing the safe, reliable water service you depend on every day. In this month’s newsletter, we’re highlighting important seasonal reminders and recognizing the value of water in keeping our community healthy, safe, and connected.

Drinking Water Week

Each May, Drinking Water Week highlights the essential role safe, reliable drinking water plays in our everyday lives. This year’s theme, “Protect the Source,” focuses on the importance of safeguarding the rivers, lakes, and groundwater that supply our water.

Our team works every day to deliver high-quality water to our community.

Protecting water sources is a shared responsibility, and small actions, like properly disposing of waste and being mindful of runoff, help preserve this vital resource for future generations.

National Water Safety Month

May is National Water Safety Month, a reminder of the importance of staying safe in and around water as summer approaches. Whether you’re visiting pools, lakes, or rivers, simple precautions, like supervising children, wearing life jackets, and learning basic water safety skills, can help prevent accidents.

Taking a few extra steps now helps ensure that time spent around water remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Reminder: Annual Spring Flushing Underway

Our annual system flushing is underway soon. This important maintenance process helps keep our water system clean and operating efficiently.

During flushing, you may notice temporary water discoloration or changes in pressure. If this occurs, we recommend avoiding laundry until the water runs clear.

Celebrating Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us of the freedoms we enjoy and the importance of coming together as a community.

Happy Memorial Day!

ICYMI: Upgrading our water system for the future

Ramsey Water continues to invest in improvements that keep our system safe and reliable. One of the ways we do this is by upgrading older water lines with larger pipes and modern infrastructure.

These improvements increase water flow, strengthen reliability, and ensure our system can support homes, businesses, and emergency services when water is needed most.

While projects like these require significant investment and can lead to rate adjustments, they are essential to maintaining the dependable water service our community relies on every day.

Our latest video takes you behind the scenes to explain these upgrades and why they matter for the future of our water system.

How a Water Tower Works

A water tower is more than a familiar landmark—it’s a key part of keeping consistent pressure in the water system. The tower stores a large volume of water high above ground, and that height creates natural pressure through gravity. As water flows down through the system, the weight of the water column helps maintain steady pressure for homes and businesses throughout the day.

When demand increases, like during morning or evening peaks, the system automatically draws from the water tower to keep pressure stable. During lower-use periods, pumps refill the tank so it’s ready for the next cycle.

This constant balance between pumping and gravity helps ensure customers experience reliable, even pressure across the entire service area.

Did you know?

NASA’s Artemis missions are searching for water on the Moon! Scientists believe ice may exist in permanently shadowed craters, and it could one day support future astronauts by providing drinking water, oxygen, and even fuel.

Even in space, access to reliable water remains essential, just like it is here at home.
