October 2026

Fall is officially here, and October brings cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, pumpkin patches, and a little Halloween fun. As we enjoy the season, it's also a good time to appreciate something we rely on every day but may not think much about: clean, reliable water.

This month, we're taking a look at what life would be like without water, sharing some simple ways to use water more efficiently, and highlighting the important role clean water plays in keeping our communities healthy. We've also added a few spooky-season surprises along the way!

Imagine a Day Without Water

It's easy to take water for granted—until you imagine a day without it: No morning shower. No coffee. No washing dishes. No flushing toilets. No clean water to drink, cook with, or wash your hands.

Imagine a Day Without Water is a national campaign that encourages communities to recognize just how essential water is and why investing in water infrastructure matters.

At Ramsey Water, we're proud to provide the safe, reliable water our community depends on every day. From the water treatment plant to the pipes beneath our streets, there's a lot of work happening behind the scenes to keep water flowing.

This October, take a moment to appreciate the resource that makes so much of our daily lives possible.

Clean Hands Start with Clean Water

October 15 is Global Handwashing Day, a reminder of one of the simplest and most effective ways to help prevent the spread of illness: washing your hands.

Clean water plays an essential role in proper handwashing. Encourage children to wash their hands with clean, running water and soap, especially before eating, after using the restroom, and after playing outside.

It's a small habit that can make a big difference in keeping families and communities healthy.

American Water Works Association Conference

Several RWC supervisors recently attended the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Water Infrastructure Conference in Indianapolis. The conference brought together water industry professionals from across the country to share knowledge and learn about emerging technologies, infrastructure improvements, asset management, cybersecurity, and best practices for utility operations.

By participating in industry conferences like this, Ramsey Water continues to invest in professional development and stay informed on advancements that help us better serve our customers.

Why does candy get sticky?

Here's a little Halloween science!

Many of your favorite candies contain sugar, and sugar is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and holds onto water from the surrounding air. That's why some candies can become sticky or lose their crisp texture when exposed to humid conditions.

Water is involved in more of our favorite Halloween treats than you might think—from the ingredients in candy to the water used to grow the crops that become sugar and other ingredients.

So the next time your Halloween candy feels a little sticky, you can blame the water in the air!

Did you know?

Water may seem pretty ordinary, but it has a little Halloween magic of its own! Water is one of the few substances on Earth that naturally occurs as a solid, liquid, and gas.

Whether it's an icy graveyard, a bubbling witch's cauldron, or a foggy Halloween night, water is there in one form or another!
