20 Years Making Magic Exhibit
An exhibit at the MACC that ran from June 15 – July 1 showcased Rancho Cordova’s rich history from the Gold Rush to the Space Race, from incorporation to present day.

Million Dreams Musical
On June 30, a crowd of over 400 people packed the Cordova High School Performing Arts Center to enjoy a first-ever joint concert featuring Symphony d’Oro and the Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band. Delighting the audience with both original and popular scores, the music swept concert-goers along a musical journey toward cityhood.

Paint the Town with David Garibaldi
On July 1, despite temperatures that soared to 109 degrees, residents braved the heat to see David Garibaldi create three original paintings depicting Rancho Cordova’s journey toward cityhood. In the amphitheater at Village Green Park, Garibaldi amazed the audience by painting the MACC, the diverse faces of the city, and the journey from space race to Rancho Cordova today. View photos

Celebrating a Million Dreams at Civics Day
At its July 3 Council meeting, the city showcased a video that celebrates the 20th anniversary of cityhood. Attendees from the Sacramento region presented the City Council with special 20th anniversary recognition and then stayed to toast the city’s next 20 years.

Fourth of July Parade
This favorite Rancho Cordova tradition drew thousands who lined Coloma Road and Chase Drive to watch over 75 floats, seven marching bands and three drumlines. From music to giveaways to hometown patriotism, this year’s July 4th parade celebrated America’s birthday—and Rancho Cordova’s 20th birthday, too—with great joy amidst the red, white and blue. Every year, Rancho Cordova’s Hagan Community Park transforms into the best two-day Fourth of July celebration, and this year, over 20,000 people from across the region enjoyed not only the biggest fireworks show in Northern California, but a drones show too.

Citizen's Academy Accepting Applications through July 18
The 11-week course provides residents with information about the police department and its proactive policing programs, as well as tools and resources to help prevent crime. The fall academy will run Wednesday evenings from August to October. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, July 18. Learn more

Life Jackets Available at River Access Points and Fire Stations
Ensure your family's safety this summer by borrowing life jackets before entering the water. Discovery Park has free adult and youth vests for loan. Other stations with vests for youth include Ancil Hoffman Park, Howe and Watt Avenue River Access, Paradise Beach, River Bend Park, Sunrise River Access and Sand Cove.
