The City of Rancho Cordova is developing a Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated in our city. The Climate Action Plan will set goals to reduce emissions and outline policies and actions to achieve these goals. The Climate Action Plan will also assess vulnerabilities to climate change impacts, as well as identify strategies to adapt to these impacts.

Through the Climate Action Plan, community members will have the opportunity to make their homes and businesses more sustainable, save money, and promote a healthier environment.

January 13, 2022 Public Workshop

Join us for a virtual public workshop on the city's Climate Action Plan on Thursday, January 13 at 5 PM. A greenhouse gas emissions inventory and a vulnerability assessment have been completed since the first workshop, and the results will be presented at this workshop. The greenhouse gas emissions inventory provides information on activities that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions in our city, which future actions in the Climate Action Plan will aim to reduce. The vulnerability assessment provides information on the anticipated effects of climate change in the city within this century.

This workshop will discuss:

  • What are the city’s primary vulnerabilities to climate change?
  • When are these climate change impacts likely to occur?
  • What activities are contributing to the city's greenhouse gas emissions?
  • What percentage of greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to various sectors, such as building energy, transportation, waste and water?
