A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS:

WESTSIDE LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY

We’re excited to share that construction is officially underway on a long-awaited project that will bring modern, expanded library services to the western portion of Rancho Cucamonga.

This project will replace the existing Archibald Library, which faces significant infrastructure challenges, with a new and improved library facility at the City owned Lions Center East and West buildings. It will offer updated amenities, an additional Library of Things collection, flexible programming and outdoor event spaces, and dedicated study and meeting rooms, all within a more energy-efficient environment.

As part of Plan RC, the City’s General Plan update, this project brings critical community services to an area that has not seen a new facility in more than 15 years. The new library will better serve residents with flexible, modern, and creative spaces designed for sustainability and evolving community needs.

Project Highlights:

  • Full interior renovation of Lions East and West buildings
  • New accessible, climate-controlled corridor connecting both buildings
  • Dedicated areas for collections, community events, and study rooms
  • Modernized customer service counters and staff spaces
  • Exterior upgrades including new finishes, signage, windows, and paint
  • Enhanced site access with new pathways and landscaping
  • Upgraded lighting, technology, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

This project is made possible in part by the State of California’s Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant and represents a significant investment in Rancho Cucamonga’s future.

Thank you for your continued support as we build a more inclusive and innovative community space. For updates and more information on the Westside Library Expansion Project, click the button below.

SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY:

SHOP LOCALLY FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL NEEDS!

As a new school year begins, it's time to start thinking about back-to-school shopping.

Every dollar you spend locally helps support our businesses and keeps our economy thriving. The sales tax from these purchases directly benefits our community, unlike online shopping, which often benefits our neighboring communities with a large warehouse presence. Shopping locally supports a more sustainable environment by reducing the need for long-distance shipping, lowering our carbon footprint. And most importantly, you enjoy a personalized shopping experience from local hires, fostering a sense of community that online shopping simply can't match.

Make a difference this school year:

  • Buy school supplies from a local office supply or discount store
  • Choose local shoe and clothing stores for those first-day outfits
  • Explore small tech shops or retailers

Let's support the local businesses who support our community! To view a list of local businesses, click the button below.
