Join the City of Rancho Cucamonga, Fire District, and Police Department as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, at the upcoming 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the Spagnolo 9/11 Memorial Park (10597 Town Center Drive). 

The September 11 attacks claimed the lives of 2,977 people in New York, NY; Arlington, VA; and near Shanksville, PA. To honor and remember those lives, the City of Rancho Cucamonga established the Spagnolo 9/11 Memorial Park, which incorporates artifacts from all three crash sites. 

This permanent memorial provides a meaningful space for the community to reflect on the events of September 11, 2001. 

The Police Department welcomes Captain Brad Bonnet as the newly assigned Chief of Police/Station Captain for Rancho Cucamonga. With more than two decades of dedicated service to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Captain Bonnet brings extensive law enforcement experience, strong leadership, and a longstanding connection to the Rancho Cucamonga community.

Captain Bonnet began his career with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department as a Sheriff's Trainee in January 2005, later earning the rank of Deputy Sheriff in June of that same year and serving at the West Valley Detention Center. In May 2006, he was assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Station, where he began building strong relationships within the community he now returns to lead.

In 2012, Captain Bonnet was promoted to Detective/Corporal and assigned to the Specialized Enforcement Division, where he expanded his investigative and tactical expertise. In 2015, he transferred to the Gangs/Narcotics Division and was later promoted to Sergeant. During this tenure as Sergeant, Captain Bonnet served at the West Valley Detention Center, the Rancho Cucamonga Station, and the Internal Affairs Division.

Captain Bonnet was promoted to Lieutenant in 2021, taking on assignments with the Gangs/Narcotics Division and the Internal Affairs Division. His broad operational experience and commitment to professional excellence led him to his promotion to Captain in 2025, most recently serving within the Professional Standards Division.

"It is an honor to return to Rancho Cucamonga and serve the community alongside the dedicated men and women of the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department," said Captain Bonnet. "I look forward to continuing our strong partnerships with residents, businesses, and community organizations to help keep Rancho Cucamonga safe and thriving."

Show your team spirit at the IncredABLES Friday Night Fun Club: All-Star Sports Evening on Friday, August 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Central Park (11200 Base Line Road). This inclusive recreation program welcomes participants of all abilities, with activities designed to foster fun, friendship, and community.

Participants ages 8 and older are invited to wear their favorite team colors and enjoy an evening of games, music, sports-themed activities, and friendly competition. Escape to the islands at the Island Breeze Party in the Bank of America Imagination Courtyard at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center (12505 Cultural Center Drive) on Saturday, August 15. Join us for an evening filled with live entertainment, interactive activities, and tropical fun for the whole family.

The fun begins at 7:00 p.m. The free community concert featuring Upstream starts at 8:00 p.m., bringing island-inspired music to the courtyard, along with an exciting performance by a live fire performer. Bring your lawn chairs, gather your family and friends, and enjoy a festive summer evening under the stars.

Rancho Cucamonga Public Library is gearing up to ensure students have everything they need for the new school year! We have over 25 online research, education, and database platforms, covering a wide range of subjects for all ages.  

Whether you're looking for resources for elementary, middle school, high school, or college-bound students, the Library offers tools to support every stage of the learning journey:

• HelpNow offers free access to qualified virtual tutors for students in grades K-12 and includes college preparation. One-on-one tutoring sessions are personalized to meet each student’s needs.   
• EBSCO databases provide an assortment of information services including multidisciplinary full-text periodicals, essays, biographies, reference publications and more.  
• Britannica School and Britannica Escolar (Spanish version) each contain a collection of curriculum-relevant materials for all grades including encyclopedia articles, maps, images, videos and more.  
• Learning Express Library offers practice tests, virtual tutorials, and college preparation materials.  
• Mango Languages offers language learning for over 70 languages through interactive exercises, audio recordings, quizzes, and a conversation-based learning methodology.   
• ABCMouse provides free online learning programs for children ages 2-8 that strengthens reading and math skills through educational games and activities.

Virtual Resume Workshop – Every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Beyond the Box Studio Continues in August!  

Due to popular demand, Randall Lewis Second Story and Beyond® STEM Lab will continue our cardboard makerspace “Beyond the Box Studio” during the month of August! 

Children and families will have the opportunity to transform recycled cardboard materials into amazing creations. Using our kid-friendly electric cardboard cutter, handheld tools, connectors, and more, guests will be able to construct their own inventions. Whether it’s a robot, animal, vehicle, or something entirely new. If you can dream it then you can make it! 

Why Cardboard? Cardboard is more than just a box—it’s a great tool to promote learning! Children will be able to plan, design, and build which helps encourage: 

• Engineering and creativity   
• Critical thinking and problem solving  
• Fine motor skills and communication  

A Slimy August Art Studio Activity!  

While the August STEM Lab program will task visitors to work with solid materials, August's Art Studio program will task visitors with making a more viscous solution...slime! 

Children and families will work together to create gooey slime with common, safe, household materials. Once the chemical process has been completed, families will be invited to take their slime home for continued fun!

The City of Rancho Cucamonga’s award-winning Healthy RC Youth Leaders Program is now recruiting students for the 2026–2027 school year!   

Middle and high school students are invited to get involved and make a positive impact in their community. This unique opportunity allows students to build leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and contribute to projects that focus on mental health, sustainability, equity, and overall community well-being. Take the lead, have fun, and be part of the change! Use your voice to influence policies and programs that improve life in Rancho Cucamonga.

Escape to the islands at the V.I.P. Club Luau Party on Tuesday, August 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Central Park (11200 Base Line Road). Adults ages 50 and older are invited to enjoy a free morning of tropical music, dancing, festive décor, a photo booth, and great company. Hawaiian attire is encouraged!

Please note that event registration does not include entry into the V.I.P. Club member raffle. Annual V.I.P. Club memberships are available for $10 and can be purchased on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
