| | 4TH OF JULY PET SAFETY TIPS | | |
Fireworks can be frightening and even dangerous for pets. To keep them safe this Independence Day, make sure their ID tags are current, and microchip information is up to date. Create a quiet, secure space indoors where they can retreat during the festivities and give them plenty of exercise earlier in the day to help them stay calm later on. Avoid bringing pets to backyard parties—loud noises and unfamiliar guests can be overwhelming—and steer clear of sparklers and glow sticks, which can be hazardous if chewed or swallowed.
During fireworks, keep pets indoors and consider using calming background noise like a fan, music, or white noise. Be nearby to comfort them, but try not to fuss too much, as this can reinforce anxious behavior. For pets with severe anxiety, talk to your vet about calming options ahead of time.
After the celebration, check your yard for any leftover debris or fireworks, and monitor your pet for signs of stress such as trembling, hiding, or appetite changes. It’s also a good idea to have clear, recent photos of your pet on hand in case they go missing and need to be quickly identified.

| | STAY SAFE ON E-BIKES THIS SUMMER | | |
Summer is here and more kids are riding their bikes and e-bikes through our neighborhoods, parks, and streets. Parents, it's important to know the rules and help kids ride safely.
The City of Rancho Cucamonga recently adopted a new e-bike ordinance (Ordinance No. 1039) to help keep riders safe. Here are some important things to know:
- Class 1 are Pedal-assist only, with motor assistance up to 20 mph
- Class 2 are Pedal-assist and include a throttle, with motorized assistance up to 20 mph
- Class 3 are Pedal-assist only, with motor assistance up to 28 mph.
- Electric off-highway motorcycles are not permitted on city streets, sidewalks, parks, or trails. They are only allowed in approved off-road areas or on private property.
Anyone riding recklessly such as going against traffic, ignoring signs, or doing stunts may have their bike towed. Parents, please remind kids to ride carefully, watch their speed, stay alert, and always wear a helmet. These simple actions can prevent accidents and save lives.
Let’s work together to keep our kids and our community safe all summer long.

FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN
RANCHO CUCAMONGA
| | |
The safety of our RCcommUNITY remains a top priority, which is why the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District wants to remind all residents, businesses, and visitors about the dangers of fireworks.
Fireworks can cause fires, property damage, injuries and even death. Not to mention, the unexpected loud noises can be traumatic for our sound sensitive neighbors including our veterans and pets.
For this reason, all fireworks are prohibited in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, including safe and sane fireworks.
How to report the use or sales of illegal fireworks:
- Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., call the Fire District at 1-909-477-2770
- After hours and on weekends, report to non-emergency dispatch at 1-909-941-1488
-
24/7 via the City’s RC2GO Reporting Portal
We encourage you to be as specific as possible when reporting, including specific addresses when possible. Your efforts to report fireworks help keep our community safe.
The Fire District also provides the opportunity to surrender fireworks at any time, no questions asked. Call 1-909-477-2770 or email at RCfire@CityofRC.us to schedule a pickup.
We hope you join this community-wide effort to decrease injuries and preventable fires and we encourage you to enjoy professional fireworks display whenever possible, as they are monitored and managed for the safety of others.
