NEW ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATION AT RC SPORTS CENTER
The City of Rancho Cucamonga proudly unveiled the City's newest and fastest Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station at the RC Sports Center (8309 Rochester Ave.). This $1.2 million project, with 35% funded through multiple grants, reflects the City's commitment to supporting clean transportation and reducing emissions. By enhancing EV infrastructure, Rancho Cucamonga aims to make EV ownership more accessible and convenient for residents. The RC Sports Center EV charging station officially opened for public use on January 29.
As the demand for electric vehicle charging increases and Rancho Cucamonga embraces the electric transportation mantra and reduces greenhouse gases, four (4) 200kW DC Fast Charger (DCFC) electric vehicle chargers have been installed at the RC Sports Center parking lot as part of the EV Charging Station Hub. The new EV chargers can provide a significant charge in just 20-30 minutes, which is about 100-200 miles in range, depending on the vehicle’s charging abilities.
This project supports the city’s sustainability goals by encouraging the use of clean energy vehicles. These charging stations will provide convenience for residents and visitors, allowing vehicles to be charged quickly and efficiently.

SPRING FORWARD AND STAY SAFE
Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 9! When we change our clocks, it's also a great reminder to check the batteries in your smoke alarms & carbon monoxide alarms. According to the National Fire Prevention Association, working smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in a house fire by more than half (54%). Meanwhile, roughly three out of five fire deaths happen in homes with either no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
We would like to remind our #RCommUNITY how to make your smoke alarms work for you!
- Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area (like a hallway), and on every level of your home, including the basement.
- Ensure smoke alarms meet the needs of all family members, including those with sensory or physical disabilities.
- Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button.
- Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old.
If you have any questions about your smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, please contact the Fire District at 1-909-477-2770 or RCFire@CityofRC.us.
