CONNECT RC

SHARE HOW YOU WALK, BIKE AND ROLL

Did you know that Rancho Cucamonga is developing a plan to improve walking, biking, and rolling access across the City?

Rancho Cucamonga has prioritized a culture of health for its residents since 2008, through the creation of the Healthy RC initiative. This includes access to healthy food and alternative modes of transportation that provide the equitable ability to travel to and from school and places of interest in order to support an active lifestyle.

Community feedback received will help guide the development of the Active Transportation Infrastructure Assessment and Improvement Plan. This plan will include: infrastructure recommendations that can be implemented when funding is available, better prepare the City to explore funding opportunities to improve, and further develop a comprehensive network of safer streets and sidewalks for our neighborhoods.

If you missed one of the in-person workshops, we encourage you to participate remotely to share your thoughts and ideas on how we can make Rancho Cucamonga a safer and more enjoyable place to walk, bike, and roll, by clicking on the image above or by clicking on the TAKE SURVEY button below.

PUFF'S PET PANTRY

Puff’s Pet Pantry is a new addition to the services offered by the Animal Center! Located to the left of our front doors, Puff’s Pet Pantry is a location for community members to leave pet supplies such as food, treats, grooming supplies, and more. Community members in need of pet supplies can take the items left in the pantry free of charge.

The structure for the pantry was built by Julian De La Torre from Boy Scout Troop 608 and donated to the Animal Center as his Eagle Scout project.

Puff’s Pet Pantry is named in honor of Puff, a dog that came into the care of the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Center in January of 2007 as a stray. Puff was initially available for adoption, but she was extremely fearful of new people. Over time, Puff bonded with Center staff and volunteers and became the Center’s office dog. Puff lived at the Animal Center until her health failed in November 2015.

We hope that Puff’s Pet Pantry can serve as a resource for pet owners in need. Our goal is to keep more pets with the owners who love them rather than having to surrender them to the Center due to a lack of means to care for their pet. Donations to Puff's Pet Pantry are separate from regular Animal Center donations. Food and other items can be placed in Puff’s Pet Pantry at any time.

NO BURN DAY SEASON IS HERE

November marks the start of South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AMDQ) annual Check Before You Burn season. From November through the end of February, residents are asked to check before burning wood to limit emissions of fine particulate matter (PM2.5).

A No-Burn Day is a 24-hour ban on wood-burning in residential fireplaces, stoves, outdoor fire pits, and outdoor ovens, including pizza ovens, in the South Coast Air Basin. South Coast AQMD forecasters call for a No-Burn Day when PM2.5 is expected to reach unhealthy levels due to air emissions and stagnant weather conditions.

South Coast AQMD’s No-Burn Day alerts do not apply to homes that rely on wood as the sole source of heat, low-income households, and those without natural gas service. Natural gas and propane-fueled fireplaces, outdoor fire pits and open flame decorative devices are also exempt from the No-Burn Day restrictions.

South Coast AQMD is providing several resources to the public to make following No-Burn Days as convenient as possible.

Sign up to receive Air Alerts on air quality and to be notified when a mandatory No-Burn alert has been issued for your neighborhood by clicking here.
