Hey Rancho Murieta residents! Summer is here, and we know that means more time outdoors, grilling with friends, enjoying fireworks, and getting your yards in shape. With all the summer fun comes extra waste, and we want to help you sort it properly.
Here is a quick guide to help you handle some of the most common summertime items so we can all do our part to keep Rancho Murieta clean and safe.
Fireworks
Used fireworks should never go in the recycling or organics. Once they are completely used, soak them in water overnight, place them in a sealed plastic bag, and toss them in the trash. This is the safest way to help prevent accidents and protect our drivers.
Drip Lines and Sprinkler Parts
Working on your yard this summer? Items like broken drip lines, hoses, and sprinkler heads are not recyclable, even if they are plastic. These items belong in the trash to help prevent damage to sorting equipment.
Quick Reminder
When in doubt, throw it out! If you are not sure whether an item is recyclable, it is better to place it in the trash than risk contaminating your recycling bin.
