How are Partners for Better Health (PBH) and the Randall Lewis Health & Education Collaborative helping to make the world a better place?
Randall Lewis has been a long-time supporter of PBH and instrumental in developing the public health workforce in Southern California. His vision for investing in the next generation of leaders has been leading the way and changing the landscape in the Inland Empire. Simply put, without Randall Lewis’s vision and investments, innovative public health opportunities contributing to Inland Empire would be limited.
Why are local investments important for developing healthy ecosystems?
Randall Lewis recognized long ago that local community investments are a critical component for addressing local health needs and advancing an ecosystem of health and well-being. Investments to organizations like Partners for Better Health, University of LaVerne, and San Antonio Regional Hospital supported the creation and development of their workforces. The common theme to all of Randall Lewis’ investments are health improvement and education. Funding a robust public health workforce supports strong local programs that protect communities and help people get and stay healthy physically and mentally.
How has the pandemic impacted the work of organizations such as ours/yours?
Public-health agencies have been fighting on the front line to protect Americans against COVID-19 for over two years. The healthcare and public health employees are exhausted and filling many critical positions has proven to be very difficult. Developing local relationships and opportunities for internships and fellowships increases the likelihood of keeping our local workforce. The multiple initiatives within the Randall Lewis Health & Education Collaborative have been a key factor in preparing the future workforce for action and filling these vacant positions.
What are various ways that people and organizations can help advance the work of the RLHEC?
Randall Lewis Health & Education Collaborative initiatives have been developing champions to improve community conditions and build the infrastructure necessary for communities to be healthy. We often talk about shopping local, now let’s talk about investing local.
