SHOOTING MATCHES COMING UP

Falling Plate Match

The Falling Plate match  starts at 8:30 am on Saturday in Bay #2. Registration and safety meeting start before match time. Don't miss the safety briefing. Be safe and always wear eye and ear protection while shooting on any of our ranges.
5-Stand Shotgun

The 5-Stand shotgun for Saturday
will start at 9:30 am.

Call for Volunteers.
The Sunday 5-stand shotgun needs volunteers for the 1st and 2nd Sundays of the month. If you would like to volunteer or ask for more information, please email Donnie Small. Your interest and help will be greatly appreciated.

No shot larger than 7 1/2 on the 5-Stand.
Need a Chronograph?
James Eller has been kind enough to donate a chronograph to the PHA organization.
If you would like to use this chronograph, it is located at The Gun Store at 3000 Old U.S. Hwy 52, Lexington, NC. You can checkout the chronograph at The Gun Store and then return it to The Gun Store after using it. It would be good to call ahead and check on availability. Match Reports
Ron Gearren Memorial.22 Match

We had a good turnout for the Ron Gearren Memorial .22 Match on July 18.. We had ten shooters including one new shooter.



Sporter 80 Yards Winner: Dave Roberts with a 248/19x shooting a vintage Winchester 52B.

Factory 50 Yards Winner: Vince Swicegood with a 250/25x perfect score, edging out Bobby Hall with a 250/19x.

Match 80 Yards Winner: David Motsinger shot a score of 249/15x with a Cooper.

The duel was on with the iron sight shooters. Dave Roberts shot a 248 and a 250. Vince Swicegood shot a 250 and a 249. Keith Swicegood shot a 250 and a 249. All of these shooters had a best score of 250 from two targets which resulted in a shootout to determine the winner.

A 5-shot shoot-off was held and after the dust settled, Keith Swicegood took the win.

High Power Match

June 2019 Results
Our third match of 2019 was held on June 22. We had nine shooters that came out on a great day. It was warm and everybody got
to sweat a little.

Travis Rushing was the match winner with a score of 775-16x.
Second place went to Karl Kassner who edged out Wayne Hemphill
by one point.
We had one new shooter, Kevin Overcash. Kevin shot his M1 Garand while all other competitors used AR platforms.
Jim Churchill made his 2nd match appearance and had a score of 750-18.

July 2019 Results
The July High Power match at PHA was attended by ten competitors.
There were a lot of close scores for the shooters. The weather was great and we were locked up by lunch time.
Spencer Strickland was overall match winner with a score of 763-12x.
Second place went to Wendell Bowling who fired a 756-23x.

Our next match is on Sat, 24 August, beginning at 0930- registration at 0845. We do have some club rifles available for use with your own
FACTORY ammo, or you may purchase our ammo at our cost.
If someone needs to borrow a rifle, please email me or Wayne and we will make arrangements for that person.

PHA Range Annual Meeting
The PHA Range Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, August 12 at 6:30 pm at the Ram Building on PHA property.

Officers will be voted on, the annual lease with PHA Club will be signed, and we will discuss on how to find missing members.

Ray Owens has sent registered letters to those members who have not responded to recent renewal mailings.
Hunter Safety Class
Two local Hunter Safety classes are scheduled for August 10 and September 14.
The classes are FREE and there are no age restrictions but pre-registration is required.
Classes will take place at the West Davidson Public Library, 246 Tyro School Rd, Lexington, NC. CLasses will start at 9:00 am and end at 4:00 pm with a one hour break for lunch. PHA's Cody Reed is the lead instructor.

Range Safety Officer Training
NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) training will take place on Monday, September 9 at the Ram building on PHA Range. Training will start promptly at 9 am and will last approximately 5 hours. There will be a one hour break for lunch (provided by PHA).

You must sign up for this training by September 4. Contact the Recording Secretary to sign up for this course. There are no fees to attend and pass this course. It is suggested that you already be a member of the NRA.

General Meeting Reminder
This is to remind you that the August General Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 8, at 7 pm at the Ocean View Restaurant in Lexington.

The Election results will be announced and a new Board of Directors installed.

PHA Membership Renewal Season
is Now in Progress.
Here is What You Need To Know.
Now is the time to renew your PHA Annual Membership.
All of the renewal forms were mailed by July 5.

You will receive an envelope via US Mail from PHA. This envelope contains all of the papers that you need to renew your membership for the coming year.

Your Membership Renewal envelope contains the following:

  • Membership Renewal form. Be sure to fill in all of the required information and be sure to sign and date it near the bottom of the form.
  • Range Rules form. Be sure to fill in all of the required information and be sure to sign and date it near the bottom of the form.
  • Ballot. There is also an election for PHA Club Officers and At-Large Board Members. Be sure to mark your ballots. You may also receive a ballot for PHA Range and/or PHA Range II.
  • A pre-addressed return envelope is also included for you to return all of your documents to PHA.

After you have signed your documents and marked your ballot(s), place them in the pre-addressed envelope, put a stamp(s) on it, then mail it.

NOTE : PHA Club members must also include a check for $125 for their annual dues.

NOTE : If you do not sign all of your renewal documents and/or if you do not include your annual dues payment, if required, your new membership card will not be issued to you. All of your documents will be returned to you to be completed. And then you will have to re-submit. This will delay the issuance of your new membership card.

NOTE: If a PHA Club member anticipates a difficulty, due to job, medical reasons or other reasons, in paying their annual dues, contact President Ray Owens prior to September 1, 2019.

Here are important dates for you to remember.

  • July 5. Your Membership renewal envelope containing forms and ballots were mailed out by this date.
  • July 20. If you have NOT received your renewal envelope by this date, you must contact the Recording Secretary immediately and let us know that you have NOT received your renewal information.
  • August 5. All ballots must be received by the end of this day.
  • August 8. General Meeting. The results of the election will be announced.
  • September 1. PHA membership renewals are due on this day.
  • September 30. This is the final day to renew your membership without penalty.
  • October 1 to December 31. Memberships renewed during this time period will incur a $50 penalty in addition to the $125 annual dues.
  • December 31. This is the final day that dues + penalty will be accepted. If you have not renewed by this date, you will be officially dropped from the PHA membership rolls. If you renew after this date, you must re-apply as a brand new member and pay the new member fees.

PHA Safety Reminder


All targets must be placed directly in front of the berms. Do not place targets between the firing point and the leading edge of berms since this can cause dangerous ricochets.
