Week of October 12, 2025

We'll be having safety drills this week!

We will be conducting a lockdown drill this week in conjunction with the Lake Lure Police Department and the Lake Lure Fire Department. We believe that practicing drills is an important component of our safety preparedness. Teachers will speak with students on Monday about the upcoming drill, and we ask that parents also help us prepare their children. We will inform parents immediately after the drill once it has been conducted.

Also, on Thursday, October 16th, we will practice our earthquake drill, as October 16th is the Great ShakeOut drill day.

Finally, as a matter of safety, it is imperative that students have locks on their lockers. Please ensure that your child has a lock for his/her locker.

As always, please reach out with any questions!

Fall is here, and it’s time to say Boo to the Flu! October is the best month to get your Flu Shot. This vaccine takes about two weeks to set up in your system. By getting your vaccine this month, your body is ready to fight the flu virus as it approaches in November. Contact your primary care doctor, or walk-in shots are available at our local Ingles pharmacy in Lake Lure.

Virus of the week goes to…. The GI system! Yes, the stomach bug has made its way back around. Please be vigilant in encouraging your student or students in proper handwashing/sanitizing. If your child has had a fever, vomited more than once, or has had more than one episode of diarrhea, please keep them home and monitor their symptoms. A child must be 24 hrs fever-free, without the use of fever-reducing medication, to return to school. Diarrhea and vomiting must be resolved before returning to school.
