Happy October! It's been a pretty nice month in our part of Wisconsin. Octobers here can offer up a wide variety of weather, and this one certainly has. After a few freezes and even some early snowfall, we went back to several enjoyable days over 70 degrees. It's now back in the 40s with nights in the 30s, which is what you'd expect this time of year.

In spite of the cold, there's still quite a lot going on in the garden. We're still harvesting raspberries and digging up potatoes as you'll see below. If you've still got a lot going on in your garden, perhaps you'd like to take advantage of the coupon we're running this month.

From now through November 6, get 10% off all purchases at CobraHead.com when using the coupon code OCTOBER during checkout.

Don't forget to enter our monthly giveaway (just reply to this email and request to be entered). As always, feel free to leave us any additional comments when you do!

We've been harvesting the same strain of raspberry plants for over 35 years. The harvest is bountiful with minimal inputs required. They are most delicious served with oatmeal pancakes!

Growing, harvesting, and storing potatoes is a lot of work. Noel tries to justify his reason for growing them when good organic potatoes are readily available at reasonable prices.

Andy's Photo Corner
Living in a place with four distinct seasons means a lot of changes in foliage and weather during the course of every year. Autumn in the Great Lakes region can be spectacular, with its abundant display of vibrant colors. This month's photos feature a variety of maple trees from in and around our quaint village. There's a lot of variation in color between different species of maple, as well as other trees. The fall colors are fabulous in natural and rural areas and showcase the underlying beauty of hills, lakeshores, and rivers. However, don't neglect towns and cities on your fall color tour, because many urban trees are planted in part because of the fall colors they can produce. When I was a kid my parents took us on "leaf rides" through the country to enjoy the autumnal splendor. Wherever you may live, treat yourself to some wonderous fall colors, whether that means, stepping outside your door, going on a special trip, or just enjoying some photos of autumn leaves.
