The Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) has great news for consultants and contractors wishing to participate in our Multifamily Program!

Rater requirements have now been adjusted to encourage more Rater participation and to align with other programs throughout the State of California. SoCalREN believes we can deliver quality assessments and high energy savings if our Participating Raters have ONE of the following qualifications:

  • HERS II or RESNET Rater
  • BPI Multifamily Building Analyst

To find out more about becoming a certified HERS Rater visit calcerts.com or contact Training@calcerts.com . To find out more about BPI’s Multifamily Building Analyst certification visit their website at bpi.org .

For those wishing to join the SoCalREN Multifamily program, the Rater Participation Agreement and Participating Raters Handbook can be found on the SoCalREN website .

As a reminder, SDG&E is offering a BPI Building Analyst Certification five-day training course October 15-19. This certification training course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to pass the BPI BA Certification written and field exams. The course will be conducted partly in a classroom setting and partly in the field to give candidates practical experience using some of the diagnostic tools necessary for properly evaluating a home's performance. This will be offered at a discounted rate of $400 total ($200 for the written fee and $200 for the field exam).

Course materials include a Training Manual, Guidelines, Field Exam Guide, and a copy of Residential Energy by John Krigger. Building Science theory and basic knowledge are taught in the classroom to lay the foundation for good home performance problem-solving and remediation.
