Weather Closing Information Reminder
It looks like we're heading into a few days of wintry weather, so we thought a reminder about our weather-related school closing procedure would be helpful.

School closings are communicated in the following ways:
  • Voice/Text Message via automated system (keep in mind that this service is provided by a third party, so the phone number could appear to be from another state, i.e. Florida or California)
  • Email
  • Social Media
  • Website
  • Local TV News Stations

Typically, Ratner will close if the Orange School District closes due to road conditions, but occasionally our closing decisions involve other factors, so please keep an eye on notifications specifically regarding Ratner School.
Ratner Student Government Announces "Pie War"
The Ratner Student government will be hosting a "Pie War" to raise funds for The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, as well as for Ratner School. This is a dollar war version of the penny war the RSG hosted last year. The Pie War will begin on Monday, January 28, and end on "Pi Day" (March 14, or 3-14). The details are noted below.

For every $4 an individual donates, they earn a ticket with their name on it. That ticket is an entry to be a "pie thrower."

For each $20 a grade group (1-3, 4-6, 7-8) raises, one person from that class gets to put a pie plate of whipped cream in a teacher’s face (that person is chosen from a container of tickets with "pie thrower" names on them).

The grade group that raises the most money gets to put a pie in Mr. Griffith’s face.

The Pie War starts on Monday, January 28, and ends on Pi Day, or March 14. After teachers have been "pied" everyone will get a piece of pie to eat to
celebrate Pi Day!

Spotlight on Clubs: Seuss Club
The Seuss Awards, an annual Ratner tradition that celebrates the beloved works of Dr. Seuss in an Oscars-style event, will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019. Students in the Seuss Club (hosted by Mr. K.) are the crew and talent behind the awards, from crafting ballots to creating stage props and performing short skits. Elementary I students will also participate with speaking parts during the awards show.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to dress up on Seuss Day, either in Seuss-inspired attire, or awards show finery! The show is 2pm, and parents are welcome to join us for the fun!
