Parent Orientation: Monday, August 14 from 4-5 p.m.
Immediately following "Meet Your Teacher" (Monday 8/14 from 3-4 p.m.) plan on joining Summit Administration Staff and SPO Officers for a Parent Orientation from 4-5 p.m. in the Community Room, directly across from the front desk. During this time we will review everything you need to know to be a successful member of The Summit community. This is geared for both new and long-time Summit families. Questions about orientation? Contact Amy Maas, Admissions & Communications Officer.
Volunteer Training Sessions
Parental involvement is encouraged and necessary for all of The Summit's school-wide functions and activities to be successful. Each family is asked to  volunteer for a minimum of four of the annual activities/events per school year. Grandparents and other close family members are welcome to  volunteer  as well.

Everyone who wishes to  volunteer must complete  volunteer  training every two years.  This  training typically lasts 30 minutes and is conducted by our Guidance Counselor, Becky Breckner.

Thursday, August 10th @ 10 a.m.
Thursday, August 31st @ 10 a.m.

During your Parent/Teacher Before School Conferences, be sure to stop by the lobby and sign up for the 2017-2018 volunteer opportunities.

Questions about volunteer opportunities? Contact Veronica Richardson, SPO President.

STEAM & Makerspace Supplies
We are in the process of increasing supplies to support "STEAM" education and "Makerspace" activities for next school year.  STEAM is an educational approach that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics to guide student inquiry and learning.  " Makerspace " refers to an area that allows for creativity and innovation as students engage in learning experiences.  The use of "Makerspaces" often aligns with an integrated STEAM approach, extending this approach to learning by providing students with the freedom to design, engineer, create, build, tinker, and collaborate.

We are excited to expand these offerings to Summit students through means of a mobile STEAM and "Makerspace" closet.  Use of shared supplies will provide students Beginners to High School with access to STEAM and Makerspace materials.  To do this, we need your help stocking the closet with needed items.  Many of the supplies we are looking to collect include basic craft or household items.  If you have an opportunity to look around your house, or would be willing to make a small donation, we will be collecting items in a donation bin located in the lobby at the beginning of the school year.  Please don't feel that you need to purchase any of these items, but we'd appreciate it if you could keep us in mind as you're cleaning up around the house.
