Final Day Before Winter Break
Things to remember about tomorrow, Thursday, December 19th:
  • It is a $2 Uniform Buyout Day - students may pay $2 and dress out of uniform. All proceeds go towards purchasing TVs to enhance our collaborative learning spaces.
  • Winter Parties are from 10:30-11:30 a.m. - Look for messages from your classroom teachers and SPO Class Reps for more details.
  • Early Release for all students at 11:30 a.m.
  • There is no after school Fun Zone on Thursday. (There is still before school Fun Zone beginning at 7:30 a.m.) All students must be picked up at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Slide into Second... Semester: Tuesday 1/7 at 5:30 p.m.
Mark your calendars and plan to be at The Summit on Tuesday, January 7th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. (Note: This is the night before our Wednesday late start day.)

As you know, the 2020 Annual Campaign for the Raven Fund is off and running! If you are considering making a contribution soon, you may want to do it before the end of the year. There are year end tax benefits to donating to The Summit because we are a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization. Winter Enrichment STEM Clubs at The Summit

Two mini-enrichment clubs will be offered over The Summit's Winter Break, on January 2nd and 3rd. One club will be for students in Kindergarten-3rd grade and one will be for 4th grade +. They both are from 12:00-3:00 and are $80 for 2 days of STEM enrichment.  Clubs are limited to 12 students to ensure a great experience for all! Non-Summit students are invited to attend, so be sure to invite your friends!
*There are only 4 spots left in the STEM Play K-3rd Grade Club.
*The 4th Grade+ VR STEM Club is currently full. We are taking a wait list for this club.

After School Enrichment Clubs, Session #3

Enrichment clubs begin the week of January 6th and we will return to a SIX week session. Clubs meet once a week, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., on the days listed below. Feel free to invite your non-Summit friends to join as well!

  • Tuesdays: Ninja Warriors with Mrs. Walker
  • Wednesdays: Acting Club with Mrs. Murphy

NEW this year, ALL lower school students (Beginners through 5th grade) are invited to attend The Summit's Lower School Dance! Each student (boys and girls) is invited to attend with an adult (ie: father/daughter(s), mother/son(s), etc). This is a "formal" occasion, and attendees are encouraged to "dress up" for the dance (whether in their Sunday best or a fun party outfit). A DJ, photo booth, light snacks, and party favors provided.
Upper School Mixer, Middle & High School

The Upper School Mixer will follow the Lower School Dance. It is for students in 6th-12th grade.  Students are encouraged to invite their non-Summit friends to this event. Summit Ravens in 5th and 6th Grade competed at the
Math League at Willard Intermediate School this weekend. 

Journey H., Will B., Emily C., Cadence G., and Leah M. all progressed to the next level. The Summit came in third overall in the Sweepstakes Challenge. The team of Will B., Cadence G. and Journey H. took second.

I am currently completing my degree in General Education with emphases in Elementary Education and Family Relations through Brigham Young University. 

When you were in school, what was your favorite subject?
Art and drama. 

Now that you're a teacher, what is your favorite subject to teach?
Summer camp!!

What is your favorite Summit event and why?
Summer camp! I love the fun subjects we get to explore in a more relaxed atmosphere. 

If you could take your class on a field trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
NASA Space Museum in Houston. It is such a great museum with so many interesting things to learn!

In an idyllic world, what is your favorite lunch? 
The Aviary Cafe. I love the pomme frites and limoncello crepe! 

What is one of your favorite books you have read?
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. It is an amazing story of a young man in Africa who teaches himself about energy and electricity and builds a windmill from scraps from the junkyard. It is an empowering true story about strength and perseverance... 

What is your favorite thing about teaching at The Summit?
The people! I love the students, their families, and all the wonderful people I get to work with every day! And teaching in PreK is the one place where the students make me feel like a rock star!

After School Enrichment Clubs Begin the Week of 1/6

Summit's third session of After School Enrichment Clubs begin the week of January 6th. Clubs will return to a SIX week session and will meet once a week, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., on the days listed below. Feel free to invite your non-Summit friends to join as well! Cost is $80 per club.

Seeking SPO Assistant Treasurer

Looking for a way to get involved with the Summit Parent Organization? SPO is currently seeking an individual interested in serving as the Assistant Treasurer for the second half of this school year. This would serve as a training period before then moving into the Vice President of Finance position for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.

We are in need of at least three new or in-good-condition microwaves for classroom/lunch use. If you have a spare you'd like to donate to The Summit, or know someone else who might, please contact Mr. Mike for more information.
Needed: Recyclables for Kindergarten Project

Summit Kindergarteners are in need of your CLEAN recyclables for a class project in January. If you have access to any of the following, please save and bring into the Kindergarten classroom between now and the first week back to school in January. Any unused materials will be recycled.

  • Pasteboard boxes (think: cereal boxes, butter boxes, cracker boxes, etc)
  • Milk/juice cartons (no plastic, please)
  • Small/medium cardboard boxes
