$2 Uniform Buy Out Day Thursday 12/6
Raven Report: Dec. 5, 2018
$2 Uniform Buy Out Day: Thursday, Dec. 6th
The Summit Upper School is headed to Spain! In June of 2019, The Summit will be taking a group of students (and parents) to Espa ñ a for an 11 day travel abroad experience!

The group is hosting an all school $2 Uniform Buy Out Day, as one of their fundraisers. This day, December 6th, was chosen in honor of Spain's Constitution Day.

The Spanish Constitution was approved by the Spanish parliament on October 31st, 1978. The Spanish people then voted in referendum on December 6, 2018.  Click here to read the Spanish Constitution.

All students, faculty, and staff may pay $2 (cash) and dress out of uniform on Thursday, December 6th. There is no theme to the dress out.

In the Classroom
Kindergarten: Force & Motion
Kindergarten students are excited to dive into a new unit on Force and Motion as they enter 2nd trimester. Students will complete many hands-on investigations as they seek to explore and define many new content vocabulary words, including: force, motion, push, pull, friction, speed, gravity and more. Many kindergarten students are also starting to read for the very first time! With a solid grasp on letters and letter sounds, beginning readers are venturing into phonetic decodable books and starting to discover the joy of reading on their own.
6th Grade: Women's Suffrage & DAR Essay Contest
Students in 6th grade social studies took a few weeks away from the 18th century and jumped ahead to the 20th to study the 19th Amendment and the fight for women's suffrage, which was the subject of the annual essay contest led by the Daughters of the American Revolution. After working on these essays, students feel better prepared looking forward to Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association's Law Day in the spring. Sixth grade students will now focus on the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights to close out the semester.
