Global School Day of Play Rescheduled for Thursday 2/6

The Summit will be celebrating the Global Day of Play for Schools on Thursday, February 6th.

Students are encouraged, but not required, to wear Summit Spirit Wear for the day. Everyone is encouraged to bring warm coats, hats, mittens, etc for outdoor play, if temperatures allow. 

The hot lunch menu item will be the sandwich sack lunch option originally scheduled for Wednesday's lunch.

Upper School students will still be attending their afternoon field trip on Thursday.

9:30 a.m. Late Start on Wednesday, 2/12

This is a reminder that Wednesday, February 12th, is a 9:30 a.m. late start day.  Fun Zone will be extended (at no additional cost to families) from 8: 30 - 9 :15 a.m.  Students will be allowed to head to their classrooms at  9 :15  am Classes will begin promptly at  9 : 30  a.m.

All proceeds benefit STEM initiatives at The Summit Prep. Tickets start at $100 and sponsorships are available. This event is open to the entire Ozarks community, so please invite your friends to attend!

It's time to order 2019-2020 Yearbooks! This year the yearbooks will be organized by Summit High Schoolers in the Photojournalism Elective. Yearbooks will be on campus for our Yearbook Signing Raven Rally on Friday, May 8th.

NEW this year, ALL lower school students (Beginners through 5th grade) are invited to attend The Summit's Lower School Dance! Each student (boys and girls) is invited to attend with an adult (ie: father/daughter(s), mother/son(s), etc). This is a "formal" occasion, and attendees are encouraged to "dress up" for the dance (whether in their Sunday best or a fun party outfit). A DJ, photo booth, light snacks, and party favors provided.

"Reaching for the Stratosphere" Keynote Presentation & Dinner

7:30 PM | Keynote Presentation by Dr. Patricia Rieff

Dr. Reiff is a Professor at Rice University in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and was the founding Director of the Rice Space Institute at the University. Prof. Reiff has been involved in space plasma physics research for over 48 years and works with NASA to help train their astronauts.

Additional Special Guest: Commander Trish Beckman, a Navy Officer, Flight Navigator, Aircraft Dispatcher, and Aeronautical Engineer. She was the first woman ever to qualify as a crewmember in the F-15E and the first American woman to qualify as a crewmember in the F/A-18D. She is now a Boeing test pilot.

The VIP reception will provide an opportunity to mingle with guests of honor, Dr. Patricia Reiff and Commander Trish Beckman, and includes complimentary beer, wine, and hors d'oeuvres. There are also a limited number of premiere tickets for seating at either Dr. Reiff or Cdr. Beckman's table during dinner.

General Admission Tickets: $100 per person
VIP Reception: Additional $50 per person
Premiere Tickets (only 16 available): $200 per person (includes VIP Reception)

Table sponsorships (10 seats) are also available for $1,400. This includes admittance to the VIP Reception for everyone at the table as well as special recognition.

Proceeds raised from the event will benefit STEM initiatives and Innovation Lab space at The Summit
Summit Pollinator Garden Awarded Another Grant

The Summit Prep has received a second grant for our Student Led Pollinator Garden Project.  Wild Ones  selected The Summit as one of the nine Wild Ones Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education grant projects for 2020.  The project will be awarded the full $500 to go towards the purchase of native plants and seeds. 

Grants awarded for this project thus far total $11,000.

Last weekend, eight Summit Middle Schoolers competed in the MATHCOUNTS Competition hosted at Drury University. This was a 6th-8th grade competition only. 

Grayson S., Summit 6th grader, finished at the top and qualified for the State Competition to be held on March 7th at the University of Missouri.

Department of Information Technology and Cybersecurity has partnered with World Wide Technology to host The Hour of Code is an event introducing coding to K-12 students.
