Ravens Reach Out Day at the Watershed Center
The Summit will have our second All School  Day of Service ( Ravens  Reach  Out  Day) on Friday, March 22nd. Our school is again supporting the  Watershed Center. All parents should have received an email from Amy Maas detailing their class specific information about Ravens Reach Out  Day.

Friday, March 22nd will be a Spirit Wear  day. Students should wear Summit Spirit Wear with yard-work appropriate shorts or pants (there is no cost to dress  out). We would highly encourage students (or anyone planning to volunteer with us this  day) to wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty and/or muddy.

If you have any questions please call the school, or  email Amy Maas.

Law Day Poster Contest: Six of the 16 finalists are Summit students. 130 posters were received. Those Summit finalists are:
Emily Chindlund
Madison Fann
Andres Garcia
Cadence Gelner
Evelyn Nelson
Sydney Walker

Law Day Essay Contest: Six of the 15 finalists are Summit students. 108 essays were received. Those Summit finalists are:
Garret Deeter
Brooke Guyer
Luke Sharp
Katherine Swinney
Anna Wallace
Wyatt Wistrom

To prepare for the Law Day poster contest, Judge Nancy Rahmeyer, chief judge on the Southern District of the Missouri Court of Appeals, visited the fourth grade classroom to talk about the contest theme, Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society. She explained why expressing one's opinion is free speech, but threats and inciting violence are not. She also gave examples of well known cases of individuals (Colin Kaepernick, Roseanne Barr, Kevin Hart) exercising their right of free speech. While their words and actions were not illegal, they each had negative consequences for their actions. As she left, Judge Rahmeyer commented that the fourth grade class was a smart bunch of students!
