Summit Field Day: Raven Games 2019
The 2018-2019 school year will once again conclude with The Summit's annual Raven Games (aka Field Day). This year we will use the festivities to celebrate and bid farewell to Mr. Gronniger who will begin his next adventure as Head of School at Kansas City Academy.
  • Where: The Summit Prep's Backyard (if it's raining, we'll still have Field Day and just move our activities inside).
  • When: Thursday, May 16th from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. (Note, there is NO before or after school Fun Zone). Students may be dropped off between 8:30-8:45 a.m. and picked up by 11:30 a.m. If this is an issue, please contact Amy Maas immediately.
  • What: All Summit students will be divided into seven different, multi-age group, teams from Beginners through High Schoolers. Each team will have designated Summit Employee team leaders. Teams will compete in activities reminiscent of Mr. G and his time at The Summit!
  • Attire: Summit Spirit wear and any shorts/pants (jeans, khaki, athletic). Tennis/running shoes required - we will be moving a lot.
  • Spectators: Parents, grandparents, etc. are encouraged to attend, especially our early learner and younger elementary student parents.
  • Things to bring: Labeled water bottle and a snack (disposable, easy to transport, and non-refrigerated).
  • Picnic Lunch: SPO Class Reps are organizing lunches for after Field Day. Please check your class email for more information.
  • Ice Cream Truck: We will have a visit from the ice cream truck around 11:45 a.m. on Field Day. Treats will cost between $1-4. Students should have cash if they would like to purchase a frozen treat.
Yearbooks 2018-2019
This year we're doing something a little different with The Summit Yearbook. W e are going to include pictures from our end of the year events (Field Day, Culture Day, PE Bowling Field Trip, etc). Therefore, yearbooks will not be available on the last day of school, but they will be here at the end of the month. Once they arrive, we will send out a notification that yearbooks are ready for pick up. If your family is no longer in the Ozarks, we can also mail your yearbook to you.

We did order extra yearbooks, so if you didn't make the yearbook order deadline let Amy Maas know, and she will add you to the extra list.

Questions? Contact Mark Sharp.

The Board of Trustees asks that all Summit parents take the time to complete our annual  Summit Parent Satisfaction Survey . We ask that each family complete the survey. Both parents/guardians are welcome to complete the survey, or one per household.  This anonymous survey should take only 3 minutes  and will help guide our current initiative to create a new strategic plan for the next two to three years.

All School Culture Day: The Regions of Spain

The Summit's 2019 Culture Day was a success! This year, students traveled around various regions of Spain:  Castilla y León, Islas Canarias, Andalucía, Valencia, Aragón, Cataluña,  and  Madrid Each different region offered an authentic experience that one may encounter when traveling around Spain. Students sampled various  tapas,  learned to dance the  flamenco , completed art projects inspired by  Salvador Dali  and  Pablo Picasso , went on a scavenger hunt in search of animals native to Spain, learned about Spain's annual  Tomatina  festival, and played a favorite childhood game for children who grow up in Spain,  Chapas.

This event was organized and carried out by our Summit upper school students. They did a tremendous job of facilitating the stations and engaging every student.
