To advertise our Book Fair this year, we’d like to encourage our Summit family to make short commercials and/or book reviews that we can share with the community each day during the Book Fair. Videos should be less than one minute in length and submitted by October 26th. To submit your video, please email Whitney Wiese, Communications & Enrollment Officer.

Here’s your opportunity to shine! Make your commercial as funny and creative as you want. Or make a book review of one of your favorite books that’s available through the Book Fair; you might inspire others to love it as much as you do!

Friends of The Summit Gardens Club
Calling all parents, faculty, staff, and friends of The Summit! Have you heard the news that as part of our STEM programming, we are converting the Summit campus to native Missouri plant species? It’s an exciting, student-led project that will offer numerous math and science learning opportunities for our students. It also gives students a chance to plan and implement hands-on projects, which include spatial and design elements, group problem solving, and translating plans on paper into action.

We need your extra hands to help carry out the students’ plans, so we’re starting a Friends of The Summit Gardens Club! We will have planned group workdays following each monthly SPO meeting, and there will also be ongoing opportunities for you to come work whenever it fits into your own schedule.

We’ll hold a one-hour orientation meeting on Thursday, October 15th at 3:50 p.m. During orientation, we will show you around the gardens, introduce you to the master plan, and let you know the jobs that need to be done. Then you can work when it fits your schedule, or join us on volunteer workdays.

Contact Dana Thomas, Summit Parent and Board Member, with questions or if you can’t attend the orientation but would like to be involved.

Summit Athletes Compete in Cross Country Meet
Contributed by: Ainsley Lowe, 9th Grade

Last Saturday, October 3rd, Summit and NCA’s Cross Country team competed at the Camdenton Laker XC Invite! Four medals were won, and Summit Senior Alexis W. placed 6th in the Gold Division. The meet was very fast paced and brought out many personal records, to everyone's satisfaction.

The varsity boys race was first up at 8:30 am. They sprinted out of their boxes and ran through the cold and rain with surprising speed. The varsity girls were next up at 9:30 am, the rain having taken a pause, but the chilly fall air still persisting. Both races took around thirty minutes and ended in the warmth of a car driving the hour and a half back home.

Overall, everyone seems to agree that the meet was enjoyable, and we are all looking forward to our next meet on October 15th at Clever High School.

Reminder: Layer Up for Fall Weather!
Fall is officially here, and with it comes cooler weather. We have been fortunate with many beautiful, mild days this school year, and we plan to continue spending as much time as possible outside as weather permits.
Please send jackets, hats, and gloves as appropriate for cooler weather with your children, so we can all stay bundled and warm while we learn and play outside.
