~ Building Community One Positive Story at a Time.
| |
After more than 20 years of dedicated service to the Raynham community, Lou Pacheco is retiring. | |
|
Known for his commitment and connection with local youth, Lou founded the Raynham Department’s Speed Camp and the Jocks Football Camp. These camps have been instrumental in fostering athletic development and community spirit.
Lou’s unique ability to connect with kids and coaches alike has created a lasting legacy. His leadership skills have helped transform the Raynham Giants into a thriving program that built strong athletes and strengthened character. Although he is stepping back, his impact will be felt for years to come.

Founded in 1972, the Raynham Historical Society is a non-profit organization that seeks to preserve and pass down Raynham’s history. The Society is currently based out of the historic Hannant House, located on the corner of Pleasant Street and North Main Street. Built in 1773, the home was gifted to them in 1996 by Isabelle Hannant. Visits to the Hannant House can be made by appointment.
“The Raynham Historical Society meets five times a year. The meetings are free and the public is cordially invited to attend. The meetings are held at both the Hannant House and the Raynham Senior Center. The Raynham Historical Society meets five times a year: February; April; June, which is the annual meeting when a potluck supper precedes the meeting; October; and December.
The meetings are held at 7pm on the second Monday of the month. The only exception is October when the meeting is held on the third Monday due to the Columbus Day Holiday."
Society members have engaged in many memorable projects over the years. M. Patrice White’s 1988 publication of “The History of Raynham” is particularly noteworthy.
Those who wish to learn more can visit their website at raynhamhistoricalsociety.org or email them raynhamhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
Respectfully Submitted,
Daniel Flockton

Looking for a Wheelchair Ramp
Donation for a Veteran
The Patriot Riders of America (PRA), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Veterans and first responders, is seeking the donation of an aluminum wheelchair ramp for a local Veteran in need. The PRA has already secured an electric scooter for the Veteran, but they are still in need of a ramp to ensure accessibility.
If you or anyone you know has an aluminum wheelchair ramp they no longer need, they would be incredibly grateful for your support. Their team is willing to come to your location, disassemble the ramp, and transport it. Please spread the word and help them provide the assistance this Veteran needs.
For more info or to donate please contact Raynham Veteran's Agent Scott R. Blake at (508) 828-4527

Climate Can Do: Overconsumption and Sustainable Practices
What Is Overconsumption?
Overconsumption is the excessive consumption or use of something. Without change we could eventually run out, or create more than we can dispose of.
How Can We Help?
Live sustainably, make lifestyle choices that help you and the planet. Small changes make a big impact:
*Walk, bike or take public transportation whenever possible!
*Consider alternatives to single use items:
- A reusable shopping bag.
- Skip the plastic bottles; all sorts of reusable bottles can be found in metal, glass and recycled plastic
- Replace Saran Wrap with wraps made from beeswax, cotton, and tree oil that keep food fresher and can be reused repeatedly.
- Use reusable towels instead of paper towels.
*Consider eating 2 or 3 meatless dinners / week:
Don’t throw away leftovers; eating leftovers will help you avoid food waste and save you money. Freeze pre-made meals for handy eating later.
*Rather than replacing, repair.
Do not automatically discard broken items when they break. Instead, try repairing it. Using this method can save you money and reduce landfill waste. Repair shops and Youtube Videos are readily available to help you fix things.
*Join Buy Nothing.
With Buy Nothing, you can get rid of unwanted things around your house and get things you need for free. As their motto states “Buy Nothing. Share Everything,” a sustainable living app aimed at the community.
*Shop local.
By shopping locally, you reduce the impact of transportation on the environment and support your local economy.
