Our student of the week is Kyle Brown! He exhibits the I.B. trait of Reflective. He said, “I'm reflective because I always look back on the things I've done and try to correct what I've done wrong.” His favorite thing to do after school is play video games. He is from Houston! His dad is his inspiration because he is very sweet and likes to play video games with him.

Our staff member of the week is Ms. Penrice. Ms Penrice exhibits the I.B. trait of Open Minded. ”I think I’m open minded because I always want to try new things!” She likes to play on her phone and watch television when she isn’t teaching. She is originally from Detroit! She says that her mother is her inspiration because of how kind and respectful to everyone she was. She also shared a great quote, “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.”

Thank you Ms. Yeggoni, Ms. Giesen, Ms. Greenspan and Ms. McNeely for providing the Hogg Teachers and Staff a delicious breakfast spread. We felt the love!

These are Hogg's entries for the 9th Annual Middle School Art Competition produced by the Art Colony Association. The work will be on display at The Bayou City Art Festival in Memorial Park March 25-27.

With an uptick in COVID cases, substitutes are in short supply. If you are interested in becoming a substitute - go to https://www.applitrack.com/houstonisd/onlineapp/default.aspx?Category=Substitute+Teacher. While long term substitute positions require a bachelor's degree, short term substitute teaching requires only college hours. The process takes 3 weeks. Days are flexible. Hours are 8:15-4:15. You can choose to work solely at Hogg Middle School. Email Principal Saldana, vsaldana@houstonisd.org once you have applied. 

Hogg Middle School just had its Spelling Bee! We could not have done it without our 3 parent volunteers! It is the little things and programs like the Spelling Bee that helps Hogg keep its feeling of community during these busy times. We have many future volunteer opportunities available. Jobs include working on bulletin boards, putting together library shelves, processing books for Language Arts teachers, working on upcoming events and programs, helping in the library and so much more! Contact Ms. Chance at mchance@houstonisd.org if you are interested!
