6/6 Summer School Begins

6/9 Complete Intent to Return Survey

A Message from your Principal

Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians,

Thank you to the families who have completed the Intent to Return Survey!

We are in the process of making plans for the 2023-2024 school year. If you haven't had a chance yet, you can help us properly prepare for next school year by completing the following survey:

Intent to Return https://forms.gle/VZqNE25cVbib64vw7

Please submit a separate response for EACH STUDENT in your family (rising 7th and 8th graders ONLY).

Please complete this survey by Friday, June 9, 2023.

Returning students will also need to provide proof of address to the school to complete registration for next year. If you are not able to upload a proof of address, you can send a hard copy with your student to office 101.

Students will have the opportunity to complete their course ranking form in homeroom on Friday and Monday. All course descriptions are linked here. Please discuss with your child at home.

Thank you,

Vanessa Saldana, Head of Hogg Middle School

Gracias,

Vanessa Saldana, Head of Hogg Middle School

Please reach out to Mr. Mark if you can host Dimitri over the summer. cmark@houstonisd.org

Keep Reading this Summer!

Stop the summer slide and encourage your child to read over the summer. Let them see you reading for pleasure, for information. Read with them! Ask them to tell you about what they're reading. Tell them about what you're reading. Listen to an audiobook as a family. Help your child record what they read, and turn it in to participate in the summer reading events. Turn it in to the library the first week of September, or email it to mchance@houstonisd.org.

Hogg Student Graphic Design Projects on Display at HPL Heights Branch through July

Catch up on your summer reading at the Heights Library! An exhibit of storybook designs created by Ms. Sulewski's advanced-level graphic design students was installed in the atrium of the Houston Public Library Heights Branch on Saturday, May 20th. The exhibit showcases 42 storybook prototypes featuring stories written and illustrated by the students about "hybrid fantasy creatures," that are amalgams of multiple endangered species. The installation, titled Adaptations: Tales of Change and Transformation, will remain at the Heights Library through July.

Hogg's Theater Production of Cinderella

Congratulations Dr. Taylor and Hogg Theater for another great production. New speakers and lights were installed in May. We can't wait to see and hear you shine next year!

Congratulations Dr. Taylor!

Thank you for serving HISD for 30 years! Your commitment to developing fine arts at Hogg Middle School is felt every day. Each year our students grow and excel under your tutelage.

Peace, Love and Ponies

Hogg 6th Grader, Levin Megrelis, brought a very special show-and-tell on the last day of school. The Megrelis family business rehabilitates abused, neglected ponies and then makes them available for hire for special occasions, parties, photos. Pictured below are Hot Shot and Honey. Hot Shot was shot with a bb gun and now has permanent damage to his lungs. Honey grew up isolated and is socially stunted. The ponies spend three years in rehabilitation before attending public events and helping kids with special needs and disabilities.
