Marin Hammonds - Principled
6th Grade Student of the Week

Written and Edited by: Sydney Eaton, Audrey Kuffner, and Lorenzo Medina

Marin Hammonds is this week’s Razorback of the Week for being Principled! She believes that she exhibits this IB trait because she was taught to be kind, inclusive, and to always try her best at everything she puts her mind to.

Marin’s favorite subjects in school are english, history, and science. She plans to go to college in Colorado to become either an environmentalist, a marine biologist, or a journalist. Marin says if you wish to be successful in online school “you should be organized and have a place for everything.”

Outside of school, Marin enjoys reading, drawing, and riding her bike. She also enjoys playing with her cat, Duke, who is very cuddly. Marin’s biggest inspiration is Mae Jemison; the first African American female astronaut. Marin admires her because she is persistent.

Quick Round Favorites:

Una Majik - Reflective
7th Grade Student of the Week

Written and edited by: Meredith Bennett, Kayla Garcia, and Madison Rodriguez

Una Majik is this week's Razorback of The Week for being Reflective! She is reflective because she makes sure to stay organized and she looks back on things to see how she improved or how she can do better.

Una’s favorite subject is art because it is a way for her to take a break from her other classes and explore different mediums and techniques. In the future she would like to be able to do something with art and with her creativity she also would love to do something that involves interacting with animals. She has one dog named Floki who is a Welsh terrier who is 14 years old!

Her favorite Hogg memory was when she got to go on the 6th grade campout with her friends. Some people who inspire Una are her family and her friends keep her going. She really enjoys being with other people. Outside of school she enjoys many things like gymnastics, art, playing the piano, and going for bike rides with her family.

To be successful in virtual learning she recommends keeping track of all of your assignments and writing them down so you can remind yourself and make sure you don’t forget.

Joaquin Leal - Communicator
8th Grade Student of the Week

Written & Edited by: Hazel Smith, Mia Russell, and Alexa Simons

Joaquin Leal is our eighth grade student of the week for being a Communicator! He thinks that he was chosen because he respects all of his teachers and classmates, and tries to earn their respect in return. On top of this, he says that he is a forward thinker, which is helpful for staying successful in school. Another thing that he believes is helpful for staying on top of online school, is working on your time management.

He likes animals, and has a white pitbull named Zoe. His favorite Hogg memories were with Pancho the rabbit, and his favorite subject in school is science. He hopes to attend UH and Rice to study marine biology. Some things that inspire him are music/lyrics, and some things that he enjoys doing outside of school are playing basketball and video games.
