Over the past two years, people throughout the world have suffered because of the pandemic and many other traumatic events. Sonia and Alicia, co–authors of “Teaching, a Life’s Work: A Mother Daughter Dialogue,” have recently lost their beloved husband and father, respectively. They are, as a result, living through the grief of this monumental personal loss. At the same time, Alicia’s students have faced the trauma of immigration and family separation, along with the isolation that came with remote instruction. In this webinar, Alicia and Sonia draw on their experience to suggest strategies and perspectives for using writing to help educators and their students deal with trauma and loss and use writing to heal.
