Dear Friends,

As New York State begins to reopen from the COVID-19 pandemic pause, Greystone Programs, in cooperation with the Governor’s Executive Orders, OPWDD and as part of the Mid-Hudson region, is moving forward cautiously to reopen safely with a soft reentry plan for our Supports Departments. We are fortunate that, regardless of a multipronged return-to-work plan, Greystone Administrative staff have been able to work remotely throughout the pause because of our focus on and investment in advanced technologies.

All Precautionary measures implemented at all locations at the onset of the pandemic are still in place and will continue. Weekly clinical meetings are held to ensure the medical and safety needs of all those in our care.

We appreciate the concern that parents and family members experience as a result of not being able to visit with loved ones in our residential program. To this end, we have equipped each home with various technologies to provide reassurance by strengthening communication during these challenging times.
We are now encouraging family members to arrange in-person visits to our IRAs through windows and glass doors.

To further support residents, we have increased our in-home activities (as you can see on our Facebook page) and, weather permitting, are now able to participate in outdoor activities, while practicing proper safety protocols and social distancing.

Local organizations and restaurants have joined forces with Greystone by providing fabulous meals to our residents and PPE to both residents and staff. We are extremely thankful.

Trust that we are slowly and strategically approaching reentry and its effect on our workforce. We are monitoring and assessing data daily. In addition, and of great importance, we are addressing proactively mental health stressors, fatigue and uncertainty on frontline staff, individuals, and the entire Greystone team.

Our team has done an extraordinary job of keeping those in our care healthy and safe, and we owe them a debt of gratitude. Together, we will continue to weather this storm. We will keep you apprised as updates unfold. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly at [email protected]. In the meantime, stay healthy and safe, and enjoy the sunshine.

With Warm Regards,
Skip Pryce
