Advisory Committee Wrap-Up

Thank you to the 20 members of the Advisory Committee that came out on June 17th to participate in our most recent meeting at The Fitchburg Historical Society.  We hope everyone found the meeting informative and inspiring. Here's some information from the meeting for those who were unable to attend.

Making Collective Impact Happen in the North of Main
Pat Bowie of the Magnolia Place Initiative, spoke about her impressive and innovative collective impact work and how we can apply the same strategies to the ReImagine initiative. More details about her work and her presentation are  here .

Driving Change in the North of Main
During the meeting, we asked the group this key question:

What drives change in the North of Main?

We showed the group the chart above, and asked them this question: what are the  "drivers of change" for each of our six goals? Here is what the group said:

1.  Engaging  the entire family in the school system and  improving attendance
( education)

2. I mproving rental conditions and making the neighborhood  more walkable.
(housing)

3. Get  more "eyes on the street" and  empowering residents to take ownership over their problems. (quality of life)

4. I mproving the quality of homes.
(health)

5. I mproving education, both youth and workforce training.
(economic development)

6. Cr eating inclusive program s that invite diverse viewpoints and cultures into our work.
(community engagement)

Change Ideas for the North of Main
What are some change ideas you have?

The ReImagine Team also introduced two ideas for change:

1)  A mini-grant opportunity that would fund community projects aligned with our work. Details and a full application to be  released July 15th

2) A workgroup centered around improving the service-delivery systems in Fitchburg, with specific focus on the North of Main.

More about these action items and our new literacy initiative with Fitchburg Public Schools  can also be found in our presentation  here.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP

ReImagine teamed up with Crossroads Community Church on May 30th for their annual spring clean-up, a community staple since 2011. We are excited to announce that we broke records this year with more than 520 volunteers doing whatever they could to make Fitchburg better than ever. Projects included cleaning debris, planting flowers and painting, including some bigger projects like repainting the rusted building at Main and Putnam, Riverfront Park, Main Street and Lunenburg Street.

The ReImagine team, the City of Fitchburg and Crossroads Community Church would like to send a huge thank you for all for your time, dedication and commitment to this event. Your efforts have made a huge difference in the way Fitchburg looks and feels.

"It continues to  grow  and now with the city's participation,
sometimes a  spark  can create a  whole fire,"
said Tomes.
