NIH Update: NRSA Stipend Increases
|
|
The Fiscal Year 2024 NRSA stipends increase by 4% for predoctoral fellows and trainees and 8% for postdoctoral fellows and trainees.
Though NRSA award stipend levels for fellows and trainees remain less than the University-established salary and stipend minimums, the FY 2024 NRSA stipend levels narrow the gap that principal investigators and departments must cover to meet the established minimums. Read more.

Testers Needed: New "IRB Study Approvals" Tile on Project Echo Test Portal

Researchers can now view a personalized list of their Institutional Review Board (IRB) studies on the test portal. This new tile provides an improved quick-view interface for the current iRIS online application system and provides status information about studies that researchers are listed on in any role, even if they have never used iRIS.

Clinical Trial Excellence Campaign (CTEC)

CTEC aims to achieve an institutional median of 90 days for clinical trial activation, measured from the initial protocol submission into a UCSF system (IRB or OCTA) to contract execution. To help streamline your activation process and achieve this goal, study teams should submit to the IRB and OCTA in parallel or on the same day.

Funding and Fellowship Opportunities

NOT-OD-24-085 provides an update and implementation plans for the simplified peer review framework for a majority of research project grant applications (NOT-OD-24-010).
NOT-OD-24-109 provides a summary of information on NIH fiscal operations for FY 2024 and the implementation of the 2024 Further Consolidated Appropriations Act.
NOT-NS-24-079 announces that NINDS has established a more stringent payline for Parent R01 grant applications requesting $500,000 or more direct costs in any year.
NOT-MH-24-230 updates and clarifies NIMH funding priorities for awards supporting exceptionally well-funded investigators.
NOT-OD-24-107 announces changes to the application and peer review process for NIH and AHRQ fellowship applications commencing with submissions due on or after January 25, 2025.
NOT-AR-24-013 announces NIAMS implementation of a new funding policy effective with fiscal year 2025 applications.
NOT-OD-24-086 informs applicants of changes to grant application forms and instructions for due dates on or after January 25, 2025.
