We are excited to share the final report from the “Toward Algorithmic Justice in Precision Medicine” workshop held in November 2023, which aimed to raise awareness about

the scope and impact of algorithmic bias in healthcare and medicine, learn from experts and invested communities, and help UCSF organizations determine relevant follow-up actions.

CTEC Updates: DEIA Efforts and PI Bootcamp

New IRB DEIA Efforts

The UCSF IRB aligns with the Clinical Trial Excellence Campaign (CTEC) by promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in research. This is achieved through various initiatives such as providing translation services, ensuring fair language use, and implementing guidelines for participant accessibility. 


Moreover, in partnership with the Research Action Group for Equity (RAGE) program, the CTEC has introduced projects to enhance engagement when enrolling non-English speaking communities.

Clinical Trials Operations (CTO) Principal Investigators (PI) Bootcamp

Registration for the Clinical Trials Operations (CTO) Principal Investigators (PI) Bootcamp is open and available on the UC Learning Center or directly linked here. PIs are welcome to attend the modular sessions on Monday, October 14, and Tuesday, October 15, via Zoom. Attending all sessions is recommended but not required.

Retirement of NIH Automated Just-In-Time (JIT) Email Notification

NOT-OD-24-165 announces that effective October 1, 2024, NIH will no longer use the eRA system-generated email notification to submit JIT information for applications with impact scores of 30 or less. Official notifications must come from NIH staff.


AHRQ Requirement of Closeout Reporting Using the eRA Grant Closeout Module

NOT-HS-24-020 alerts AHRQ award recipients of the transition to the use of the eRA Grant Closeout Module for closeout-related activities for awards that end after October 1, 2024.
