Reach Out Youth Solutions in Uganda!

“Yes, it is official, JFYM is now in Uganda…! Hallelujah!”

That was from a report by Charles Juma in the summer of 2008, 17 years ago! Uganda was actually one of the first four countries in ROYS’ African footprint (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda).

Over the years…

…God has richly blessed the ministry in Uganda, impacting the lives of thousands of young people!

Flash forward to 2024…

…when ROYS trained 430 youth leaders, planted 9 churches and saw 290 students saved!

And today, while the challenges remain…

The population of Uganda today stands at 48.6 million people, 45% of which are under the age of 14! The teenage pregnancy rate is holding steady at 25% (which is one of the highest in sub-Saharan Africa). In the Mbale district, the location of our latest youth leader training conducted on May 9, 7% of adolescents there are HIV positive and 25% of children aged 6 to 13 years old consumed alcohol over the last 12 months.

…God is at work in amazing ways!

Country Leader, Asher Kalema, reported that in Sekerere Bungoho in the Mbale district, they began the weekend with a Forum that trained 40 leaders from a variety of churches in the area, on all six of the essential characteristics found in the JFYM training. Then, those leaders went throughout the community sharing the gospel door-to-door. Thirteen people made professions of faith!

The second day our leadership team taught on baptism and followed the teaching with a baptismal service.

I join with Asher in thanking you for your partnership as we reach into the next generation of Uganda. God is working through the faithfulness of your prayers and financial stewardship! I invite you to continue praying for Asher and his leadership team, as they serve the Lord in Uganda. Russia – evangelistic opportunities this summer through football (soccer)

and cyber sports.

Cuba – evangelistic camps and youth leader training events. 

South Asia – youth camps, preparation for youth leader events this fall in multiple countries.

African Implementation – from all churches that attended Forums last month in Malawi, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Niger, Zimbabwe, DRC, Uganda, Zanzibar, Mozambique, and Burundi.

Also, take a moment to thank God for the training that was able to occur in Bayamo City, Cuba last month. In spite of nation-wide blackouts, our leadership was able to host a Forum for college student leaders from Bayamo University! Pray for them as they reach their college for Christ!
