Read & Pick is an innovative program that combines hands-on farm activity with your young child followed by an education program with stories highlighting the fruit or farm area. Parents and young children (ages preschool to 8 years) are welcome to celebrate everything wonderful about sunflowers and flowers.
We celebrate diversity of flowers all around the farm. Sunflowers are in full bloom. We will learn about the different flowers, the importance of flowers on a farm. Then everyone will pick their own small container of sunflowers and flowers. Our farm staff will explain how flowers grow, the importance of pollinators on the farm, and how they should be picked.
The cost is $12.00 per child and includes the container of sunflowers & flowers. Two sessions will be available at 9:30 am and 11 am, each lasting about one hour.
Online pre-purchase of tickets is required. Note: this is a change from read & pick apples due to the freeze we experienced in the spring. Thanks for your understanding.

Farm Animals — Last Call for Artists!
Fall Art Show Submission Deadline is This Friday, August 28

Terhune Orchards’ Fifth Annual Fall Art Show, held in our historic 250-year-old barn, is coming up next month! This year’s theme is “Farm Animals”.
Past shows — Celebration of Old Trees (2022), Barns (2023), Everything That Grows (2024), and 50 Years of Terhune Orchards (2025)— have showcased incredible talent and creativity. We now invite you to submit one or two original works of Farm Animals, with an emphasis on “Farm”.
All visual art mediums are welcome. Photography must reflect a creative, artistic interpretation — not simple snapshots.
