The Power of Routine

How Daily Habits Help You Age Like Fine Wine

Let’s be honest: aging gracefully isn’t about secret potions or winning the genetic lottery. It’s about the little things we do every day - and routines are the real MVPs of healthy aging. They help keep our minds sharp, our moods lifted, and our bodies moving. Plus, they just make life feel a little smoother (and who doesn’t love a good groove?).

Believe it or not, sticking to a simple daily routine can lead to better sleep, more energy, and even fewer “What was I doing again?” moments. Let’s dive into why routines matter - and how to create one that makes you feel your best every day.

Moosehaven AAA Update

AAA Project Progress

Exciting progress is underway across our campus!

  • Picnic Pavilion & Restroom Facility

The metal pavilion structure is fully erected, with roofing complete. Restroom masonry and trusses are in place, and interior work is ongoing through May. Exterior siding and stone veneer will continue into the month.

  • Recreation Building

The foundation and slab are done. Masonry work continues through April, steel erection through May, and roofing into June. Interior framing begins in July, with finishes starting once the building is fully enclosed in August.

  • Pool Area

The pool shell is complete, with plumbing and slab work progressing. Final finishes are scheduled for October - November.

  • Sitework & Civil Improvements

Major utilities are finished. Grading, paving, and lighting are planned for July - October, with sidewalks and fencing in August, and final signage by mid-October.

We’re excited to watch these spaces take shape - creating even more opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and connection at Moosehaven!

Resident Activities

Kentucky Derby

Residents gathered in all their finery at the Michigan Building to watch the race and to have fun with some races of their own! The Moosehaven Races kicked off with a rousing cheer as residents, on their favorite picks, battled it out on the track.

Cinco De Mayo

Residents came together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in a fantastic way! The atmosphere was filled with smiling faces and vibrant outfits, perfectly capturing the spirit of the day.

Our Dining Services truly excelled once again, serving a delightful lunch featuring burritos, chips and salsa, street corn, and homemade churros – it truly doesn’t get any better!

Spring Fling

It was the kind of day that reminds us how special life at Moosehaven truly is. Residents and staff were treated to a mouthwatering picnic lunch that brought everyone together under the beautiful Florida sunshine.

On the menu? A southern-style feast of pulled pork, creamy mac and cheese, potato salad, grilled corn on the cob, deviled eggs, and a sweet finish of peach cobbler. The delicious food was matched only by the perfect weather and the toe-tapping tunes of live music performed by Howard Morganstern.

Mother's Day Banquet

Moosehaven celebrated Mother’s Day with a beautifully hosted banquet. Executive Chef Kevin Hawley and his talented culinary team truly outdid themselves, preparing an unforgettable meal in honor of the amazing mothers in our community.

The menu featured a fresh, flavorful salad followed by a perfectly tender filet mignon, served alongside creamy whipped potatoes, rainbow carrots, and a warm roll.

Joey Venuto Memorial Fishing Tournament

The 1st Annual Joey Venuto Memorial Fishing Tournament held on Saturday, May 17th. Joey Venuto called Moosehaven home from August 27, 2012, until we sadly lost him on October 11, 2024.

A proud member of the Moose from the Vineland, NJ Lodge, Joey’s infectious smile and vibrant personality made him an instant friend to everyone. His love for laughter and dancing brought joy to our lives. He is deeply missed and fondly remembered. This Tournament is held in his honor.

Community Activities

Police Memorial 2025

This year’s Law Enforcement Memorial at Moosehaven was a powerful and moving tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Officers from across the region once again gathered in solemn remembrance, standing side by side to honor their fallen comrades. Representatives from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Green Cove Springs Police Department, Orange Park Police Department, and Clay County District Schools Police were joined by fellow agencies in a united show of respect and gratitude.

Please join us in saying "welcome home" to our newest residents who decided to take advantage of the wonderful retirement at Moosehaven!
