40 DAYS OF LENT REFLECTIONS
At the Matthew 25 Initiative, our desire is to see the unseen and the marginalized treasured. And this Lent Season, we will be telling the stories of the least of these through 40 days of Anglican-informed, inspiring, beautiful, and theologically-robust engagement pieces — in the vein of the church's traditional disciplines of lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

Most Americans think religion makes the country stronger, but there is more work to do
A new national study, Jesus in America, was released today in a partnership between The Episcopal Church and Ipsos. The research found that while the majority of Americans polled believe Jesus was an important spiritual figure and want equality in society, it also showed Christians are not necessarily practicing what Jesus taught, and Americans feel judged when talking about their beliefs.

The study also found that the global pandemic has negatively impacted participation in organized religion — or religious activity — and more people are finding spiritual fulfillment in nature. In addition, while the church has been a place of community and non-judgment, some Americans feel that churches that discuss racism and slavery are acting with the wrong intentions.

Brothers and Lent
Centering on the theme “Things done and left undone,” Lenten prayers, video reflections, and penitential meditations have been assembled by the program staff of The Episcopal Church for use throughout the 40-day Lenten season.

Designed for personal reflections as well as community services, the Lenten resources are available on web special Resources page: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/resources_seasonal_ENG_HTM.htm

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, this year March 2nd. Lent is a time of reflection, prayer, penance, and meditation. The Lenten season concludes with the celebration of Easter on Sunday, April 17th.
“Lent is a time to reflect and pray, and we have compiled resources that will appeal to the depth and breadth of worship and prayer in The Episcopal Church,” explained Anne Rudig, Director of Communication.
The Lenten Resources will be available throughout Lent and Easter.
Among the Lenten Resources are:
– Stations of the Cross designed by young adults
– Lectionary-based lesson plans
– Hospitality, immigration and refugee reflections from Episcopal Public Policy Network
– Lenten reflections from Episcopal Relief & Development
Additional resources will be added throughout Lent.

The Episcopal Church welcomes all who worship Jesus Christ in 109 dioceses and three regional areas in 16 nations. The Episcopal Church is a member province of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Almighty God, who gave such grace to your apostle Andrew, that he readily obeyed the call of your Son Jesus Christ, and brought his brother with him: Give us, who are called by your Holy Word, grace to follow him without delay, and to bring those near to us into his gracious presence; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now nd forever. Amen
