A note from the Director,
Ambrosia Lavallee
My name is Ambrosia Lavallee, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new Director of the Ledyard Libraries. From my first day, I have been deeply impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community that define Ledyard. It is clear that the library staff are not only committed to providing excellent services, but also to fostering meaningful connections with patrons—an environment that aligns closely with my own professional values. My career in libraries has been shaped by a passion for community engagement and lifelong learning. I bring a broad range of experience, most recently serving as Director of the Langworthy Library in Hope Valley, Rhode Island. A native of Rhode Island, I began my library career as a teen page at the Westerly Library and later earned a Master’s in Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island, following a bachelor’s degree in Art. Throughout my career, I have found that the most rewarding aspect of library work lies in the stories and experiences of the people we serve. Outside of the library, I enjoy spending time with my two children and our Jack Russell, Oscar. Whether we are exploring local trails, enjoying a movie night, or engaging in a backyard adventure, family time remains a cherished part of my life. I look forward to connecting with many of you in the weeks and months ahead, and I encourage you to stop by and say hello.

Have you checked out our new seeds? "Thanks to a generous donation from the Wild Ones, a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting native landscaping and education, we have a selection of seeds that are local to Connecticut, with flowers from New England Aster to Blue Vervain. If you haven’t visited our seed library at either building, there’s plenty to pick from still! As always, thank you to our amazing volunteers, especially with the packing and labeling of the Wild Ones Seeds.
Have your seeds started sprouting? Send us pictures! We’d love to see the progress of your garden. You can email the pictures to Lyndsey or Matt at lrobinson@ledyardlibrary.org or mnovosad@ledyardlibrary.org.
Happy Growing Ledyard!

Members of the Ledyard Garden Club are always busy, whether it’s planting daffodils with the Ledyard Beautification Committee, creating unique planter displays at the Ledyard Gales Ferry Library, helping out with our fabulous Seed Library, designing amazing seasonal wreaths for the town buildings or bringing the Bill Library Rain Garden back to life each spring! Its members are always ready to bring color and joy to Ledyard Library and our town! This time of year, their focus turns to preparation for their upcoming Plant Sale, to be held on Saturday, May 17 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on the Lower Town Green. To help promote their Plant Sale, they’ve created an amazing display of miniature buildings and gardens from around town, including the Bill Library and the Nathan Lester House.
