Update to Library Hours

Happy New Year from all of us at the Ledyard Public Library

We will be closed on Monday, January 1 for New Year's Day.

We will be closed on Monday, January 15 for Martin Luther King Day.

Welcome aboard, Drue Chappelle!

Drue is a retired paramedic and stay-at-home dad to his four kids. He loves books, family, games, and community, trying to be involved in everything he can. He was an avid reader (fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian fiction, and the occasional biography) when time allowed but now depends on audiobooks between driving his children to various extracurricular activities. Finally, getting out of the house, he's landed his dream job of Library Associate where he gets to share his love of books with his community!

New Automatic Doors and Outdoor Sign at Gales Ferry!

We're excited to present our new automatic doors at Gales Ferry Library, thanks to funds from the American Library Association Libraries Transforming Communities grant! We would like to thank our Public Works team for the installation of our automatic doors. Everyone will have better accessibility to the library, and we hope you'll visit and check out this new feature!

In addition, there is a new outdoor sign at Gales Ferry Library! We are grateful to the Library Commission for approving the funding to replace the sign and spruce up the entrance.

Thank you to the following donors for their generous contributions

Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCLD) is an international initiative that encourages families to take their children to their local library. Launched in Connecticut in 2011, TYCLD raises community awareness about the importance of the library in a child's life and promotes library services and programs for children and families. Join the celebration with us on Saturday, February 3!

Seed Library News

Now that we’ve closed out 2023 and the days are getting longer (finally!), many of us turn our attention to gardening. Preparations are underway as we work to launch the 2024 Ledyard Seed Library season. We will have two work group meetings in January to clean, sort, and package locally grown seeds. Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed. If you are interested in gardening or would like to learn a new skill, join us! No experience is necessary. Please email Laura at lnorcia@ledyardlibrary.org for dates/times and details.
