Update to Library Hours
Both buildings will be closing early at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24,
for Christmas Eve Day.
Both buildings will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, for Christmas Day. Both buildings will closing early at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, for New Year's Eve.
Both buildings will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, for New Year's Day.

Welcome Aboard, Lyndsey Robinson!
Lyndsey grew up in Clinton, CT and now lives in Oakdale. She first started working at libraries in high school and has been haunting them ever since. Lyndsey received both her Bachelor's in Literature and Information Services as well as her Master’s in Library and Information Science from SCSU. When she's not working, Lyndsey enjoys reading, especially fantasy and science fiction, crocheting, sewing, writing, playing video games such as Dragon Age and Legend of Zelda, D&D and spending time with her pet rabbit and three cats. Lyndsey is excited to be working in the Ledyard Library as the Assistant Librarian I - Adult Services and looks forward to getting to know the community and patrons alike.

New Collection - Board Games | | |

Just in time for the holidays! We now have circulating board game collections at Bill Library and Gales Ferry Library. Now is the perfect time to check out a game to play with your family and friends.
A portion of this collection was made possible with help from Traveling Toys, Inc. and Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut. We also received some generous donations from one of our patrons. We truly appreciate the help we have received, and we are positive that this collection will lead to lots of fun in the community. Check one out today!

Narcan Available at your Library
The Ledyard Prevention Coalition (LPC) in collaboration with New London County Coordinated Access, Engagement, Resources and Support team (NLC Cares) is offering free Opioid Prevention, Recovery and Wellness training sessions for local businesses, municipal offices, civic groups, and school faculty, staff, and students. The lifesaving opioid reversal drug, Narcan, and fentanyl test strips will be distributed at these trainings. Additionally, Narcan is available in the community at Ledyard Public Library (Bill and Gales Ferry), Ledyard Parks and Recreation, and Ledge Light Health District. We had another successful year of the Ledyard Seed Library Program. Once again, we had the Main location at Ledyard Bill Library and the Sampler location at the Ledyard Gales Ferry Library. We had amazing volunteers, donors, seed library users and contributors—all of whom helped make the 2024 gardening season a great success, even with the challenges from Mother Nature! We appreciate all who helped out or participated in any way!

Thank you to all donors and volunteers who helped to make the Snowflake Festival a success. If you received a call that you are the top bidder, please pick up your item(s) from Bill Library as soon as possible. Items not picked up or not responded to by Saturday, December 7 may be re-offered to someone else. Please call Bill Library to inquire 860-464-9912.
There are a few remaining items that you can Buy Now. Please visit Bill Library for purchase. We also have two items that did not receive bids due to them only being out for one day. We will be leaving the bid sheets out at Bill until Saturday, December 7.

We are still tallying results, but will have the totals and some feedback at the next Friends meeting.
Do you have some ideas for improving the event next year? Let's have a working group meet and discuss in January. If you are interested, please e-mail silentauctionfoll@gmail.com. We will set a convenient date and time with attendees. I highly encourage you to attend if you volunteered. There were many good suggestions that I heard during the event.
Special library day: Short Story Day is Saturday, December 21. In honor of this, we will be having a Half Price sale on Short Stories at both locations, December 16 - 21.
Remember to visit the ongoing book sales at both library buildings - in the meeting room at Bill Library, and the Book Cellar at Gales Ferry Library, each of which are open during normal library hours. All sales go towards support of the library.

Please note the Bell Room will be closed from December 3 - January 5 to give the Youth Services Librarian space to sort the Holiday Giving book donations and to give the volunteers time off for the holidays. We will open again on Monday, January 6, 2025 ready to assist with your genealogical and historical inquiries. The Society and its volunteers wish you all a very merry holiday season!
Our local history books and maps make great gifts and the proceeds directly support our website, archival projects, and care of the Lester House collection. Purchases may be made at both library locations. If you are considering year-end gifts, we welcome donations of any amount. Our mailing address is the Ledyard Historical Society, PO Box 411, Ledyard, CT 06339 or drop them off at the Bill Library to be placed in the Society’s mailbox. We are grateful to our community for their support!
