Update to Library Hours

We will be closed on Sunday, March 31 for Easter.

Welcome aboard, Jadzia Childs!

Jadzia's library career began in her hometown library in Colorado. Throughout her working life, she has served the public in bookstores, coffee shops, bouldering gyms, and, most importantly, more libraries! She loves reading, writing, and crocheting. Jadzia recently moved to Connecticut from Charleston, South Carolina and is re-learning how to drive in the snow.

Women's History Month

Be inspired to read something new today. Check out our displays at both library buildings and also our downloadable materials available through Libby, Hoopla, and more.

Welcoming Library

March 21 – May 23

Bill Library and Gales Ferry Library

We will once again be housing the Welcoming Library in our Children's Departments at Bill and Gales Ferry Library! It is a positive pop-up conversation about immigration, and the acclaimed collection of picture books features New Arrival and New American families reflecting these themes. Readers and listeners of ALL AGES will have a chance to "meet" these families on the page while exploring the commonalities shared by all cultures. Further exploration is available using the I'm Your Neighbor discussion questions, which makes this collection great for classroom use or reading one-on-one. Be sure to visit the library to view this wonderful collection of books.

Seed Library News

It’s that time of year again! We are happy to announce that the 2024 Ledyard Seed Library opened last month with great success! Our team of volunteers, both seasoned and new, led by Roberta Levandoski, did an outstanding job preparing the inventory for opening day. Many thanks you to each of you! Once again, we have two locations you can visit. The Main location is at Ledyard Bill Library, where you will find the widest selection of free gardening seeds including vegetable, herb, flower, locally grown & native varieties donated by local gardeners and the WildOnes Mtn. Laurel Chapter. The Sampler location at Ledyard Gales Ferry Library offers a similar variety of seeds, on a smaller scale. Both locations offer a wide range of gardening books and magazines for check out, as well as a resource binder, seed catalogs and educational brochures. Garden-themed DVDs and Great Courses are also available at Ledyard Bill Library. Stop by and select some seeds to kick off your gardening season! Questions? Please email Laura at lnorcia@ledyardlibrary.org
