Reporting student tardies & absences
Until parent access is granted to PowerSchool, please report any student tardies and/or absences by calling Marilynn Fagan, Attendance Officer, at 317-251-1451 ex. 2221.
Campus Ministry’s CSI: Cincinnati Service Immersion trip
Is your student interested in putting their faith into action? Consider Campus Ministry’s CSI: Cincinnati Service Immersion trip at Franciscan Ministries Tau House during Fall Break 2022. Experience the tradition of simplicity while spending the week serving in various agencies in the area.

This trip will satisfy the Christian Service expectation for juniors and seniors. Juniors and seniors will be given priority.

Cost is $350/student. If your family has great financial need, we may be able to accommodate your situation. Interested students should submit an application no later than August 31 for consideration.


Timeline
  • August 11: application opened; ask Ms. Steiner any questions
  • August 31: application due
  • September 6: accepted students are notified and forms sent to parents
  • September 12: permission/acknowledgment forms and funds due to reserve spot
  • September/October: student formation/parent meetings
  • October 16-21: CSI: Cincinnati trip

Coffee with the Counselors
Interested in learning more about graduation pathways, academics and post-secondary planning? Plan on joining BCHS School Counselors from 8 - 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, in the cafeteria for Coffee with the Counselors.

Bishop Chatard is going to Spain and Portugal over Spring Break!
Does your child want to experience the history and culture of Spain and Portugal? Do you want your child to learn while having fun?

If yes, come to this informational meeting and hear about how your child can sign up! The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. in Art Room A.

Senior Yearbook Photos
Seniors will receive an invitation to Sign Up Genius for their senior photo sitting in September or October. Photos will be taken at BCHS in November. Seniors must sign up to be in the 2023 yearbook.

Sarah Shield Photography is the official senior portrait photographer. The sitting fee for this is $35. You can purchase prints after you see the proofs. If finances are an issue, please contact Miss Maggie Kassenbrock or Mrs. Tracy Luke at mkassenbrock@bishopchatard.org or TLuke@BishopChatard.org.
BCHS Black Student Union
The Black Student Union celebrates and promotes Black culture and builds community amongst students at BCHS. The BSU call-out meeting will take place on Friday, Aug. 19, in room 103 during seminar. Please join us to learn more! Contact Amanda Horan at ahoran@bishopchatard.org.
Choir Auditions
Attention students who love to sing!
In case you missed them in the spring, auditions for Vox Troiano (select mixed chorale) and Sounds of Silas (a cappella chamber choir) will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18, after school and on Friday, Aug. 19, during Seminar. Auditions are open to students at all grade levels.

Are you the parent of a BCHS musician seeking to connect with other ‘musical’ parents, to learn what’s happening, and support the Music Program? We invite you to the Music Booster Club!

  • Read the Fall Newsletter, for complete information
  • Music Parents gather at Trojan Tailgates – coming soon! Don’t miss getting to know fellow music parents at our Tailgate area before home football games. Details will be posted when available.
  • Performance Recording: We are looking for a volunteer to record our concerts or other events to share with out-of-town guests on social media avenues. Please contact Judy Lam at JKingLam@gmail.com or 317-985-4427 if you are interested or have any ideas/knowledge to share.
  • Send your contact information and student’s t-shirt size. We appreciate Mr. Duray forwarding messages, but please complete this brief form so the Music Boosters have your preferred contact info for music booster updates. Be sure to include your child’s t-shirt size for a music shirt which they can grow into (and thus wear for several years). If you have multiple students in the program, please submit the form separately for each student.

Spirit Shoppe Update
The BCHS Spirit Shoppe is moving to the area near the concession stand and will be open from 11:30 – 1:30 Tuesday – Friday, on full school days, when construction is complete.

In the meantime, don’t miss these opportunities to shop:
  • At Varsity Home Football games: The Spiritwear Trailer will be at these games!
  • August 19 (Fri.): 2-3:30 p.m. after school inside of Alumni stadium on campus
  • August 25 (Thurs): 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. during the Volleyball game
  • September 3 (Sat.): All Day. The Spiritwear Trailer will be at the Freshman and JV football games, and Varsity soccer game this day.
  • Our online store is open 24/7. Select the ‘Take Home’ option during checkout and your order will be sent home with your BCHS student for free! Select the ‘Shipping’ option and items will be delivered to your door ($10 shipping fee applied)!

Registration for Enrollment Events now open
If you have a middle school student not yet at Bishop Chatard, you may now sign up for Shadowing and other BCHS enrollment opportunities!

Shadow at BCHS!
Registration for shadowing at Bishop Chatard High School is open! All 8th grade students are invited to join us for a full school day where they will attend classes, get a tour of the school, eat lunch, and participate in school activities with a current student. A shadowing experience is one of the most important ways your student can get a real look at what life is like at Bishop Chatard. Click here to register.

Register for a Wednesday Walk-Thru
Parents and guardians who are interested in learning more about Bishop Chatard can register for a Wednesday Walk-Thru. These sessions give parents and guardians the opportunity to hear a presentation from a member of our leadership team and take a tour of the school while classes are in session. These events, which start 8 a.m. and last two hours, are held throughout the fall and winter beginning in September. Space is limited so registration is required. Click here to learn more.

From the Counseling Office
SAT testing day for Seniors on October 12
The Bishop Chatard Class of 2023 will have an additional opportunity to take the SAT at BCHS on the day juniors are taking the PSAT (Oct. 12). This gives a chance for current seniors to boost their score.

Seniors should still complete college applications prior to November 1 using March scores. There is a $60 fee unless students qualify for an SAT waiver from Free/Reduced Lunch Status. If students choose not to take the SAT, they can use the day to make a college visit.

Seniors interested in NHS: Applications are due on Aug. 23
Seniors with a 3.6 GPA or higher who are not already in National Honor Society are invited to apply for NHS by August 23.

To do so:
  1. Fill in the following form (students must be logged in to their BCHS email account to open it)
  2. OPEN FORM
  3. Ask one academic teacher to send Mrs. Nixon a quick email stating that they recommend you.

IU, Purdue Virtual Evening on Aug. 30
Join a Zoom conversation with IU Bloomington and Purdue West Lafayette, on August 30, 6 - 7:00 p.m. The meeting is graciously shared by the International School of Indiana.

Recognize your music or theatre performer with a BCHS yard sign! Orders are now being taken: $25 for a one-sided sign or $35 for 2-sided (both sides are the same). This is an optional sign for personal yards.

Freshman Retreat is August 26
The Freshman Retreat, "Encounter", is coming up on Friday, Aug. 26! This is a great day for freshmen to get to know their classmates, step out of their comfort zones, and encounter Jesus Christ in a new or renewed way. This retreat will take place at Bishop Chatard and will last the academic day (7:50 a.m. - 2:11 p.m). All freshmen will participate in this great day of retreat!

Bishop Chatard Campus Ministry is partnering with ULEAD, an organization that will facilitate a series fun, faith-filled, leadership-enhancing, community-building activities during the first part of our retreat - ULEAD does fantastic work!

ULEAD requires a waiver; therefore, all freshman parents/guardians must fill out this form

BCHS Varsity Football vs Brebeuf Jesuit at Lucas Oil Stadium: August 19
Tickets are now on sale for the Indianapolis Colts Horseshoe Classic varsity football game as BCHS meets Brebeuf Jesuit HS on Friday, Aug. 19, at 8:30 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Tailgate with fellow Trojans at Lucas Oil! The Trojan Horse Tailgate will be set up and be serving by 6:30 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 19, to kickoff the BCHS football season!
Meet us in the Jobsite Supply parking lot at 624 S. Missouri Street, right across from the West Gate entrance of Lucas Oil Stadium.

This is free for ALL Bishop Chatard Trojans fans. Hot dogs, hamburgers, brats provided. Bring a side to share if you can and invite your friends and family to stop by before heading into the game.

Soccer CYO Night
Join us at Bishop Chatard High School on Saturday, Aug. 20, for Soccer CYO Day! Trojan boys and girls soccer teams will take on Heritage Christian in a quadruple game event. Wear your Bishop Chatard or grade or middle school t-shirt or jersey and bring your 2022-2023 Future Trojan Pass to enter free of charge!

  • JV games are played on the baseball field (Boys: 12:30 p.m.; Girls: 2:30 p.m.). Varsity games are played in the stadium (Girls: 12:30 p.m.; Boys: 2:30 p.m.).
  • Attendees will have the opportunity to be a ball boy or girl.
  • Boys attending will play at halftime during the JV Boys game. (Please meet by the Baseball Field Right Field Foul Pole at noon.)
  • Girls attending will walk out with the varsity girls team and, numbers permitting, play at halftime of the varsity game. (Please check in at the stadium with Coach Ashton by noon.)

Royal Irish Rugby
The Royal Irish Rugby Club is recruiting for the Fall 7s Team.
Practices start August 23 and will be held T/TH 6 - 8 p.m. at Riverwood Park.

"The Feud Before the Feud" is on Sept. 8
Bishop Chatard and Cathedral High Schools are coming together for a community cause in support of families dealing with Muscular Dystrophy. "The Feud Before the Feud" will take place on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 6:00 - 9:30 p.m., at the Northside Events & Social Club (the former Knights of Columbus).
